Chapter sixteen – "he is an asshole"

I woke before him and laid there watching the ceiling. His words ran through my mind and I couldn't believe it. Finally after so many years I had someone who would fight for me, fight for everything I wanted to be and everything I needed in my life.

I laid there with my head on his shoulder smiling to myself. I glanced up at his peaceful face and sighed relaxing even more. I wondered to myself was our relationship just sex...thinking of it majority of our time together had just been sex, I think. Had it? Oh dear, if it was...

I started panicking and in no time I was laying by myself looking at him lying there peacefully. I took several deep breaths looking up at the ceiling again, my mind reeling through every intimate moment we had been in.

The night I lost my virginity ran through my mind and it stuck, like on replay. Nights of passion could mean nothing if that was all our relationship was. Was it even a relationship? Just as I closed my eyes there was a light knock at my door. My eyes flew open and my head turned to the door.

I glanced back at Cory as I got out of the bed pulling my robe on. I shuffled over to the door only opening it a peak. There stood my mum smiling and all dressed up.

'morning baby, how did you sleep?' she asked happily but frowned when I didn't invite her in or come out.

'fine mum, you actually woke me'

'oh I am so sorry, sweetie. Well I just wanted to tell you my lunch starts in two hours. Everyone is leaving soon and I don't want you to be late

'I won't mum, I'll just drive myself. I don't mind going by myself'

'are you sure? No I'll get Jason to stay with you' she explained and I noticed Jason coming down the hall in his pj pants. He yawned coming his hand through his hair.

'I'll do what?' he asked stopping beside mum.

'babysit me' I answered rolling my eyes.

'not babysit. Gosh Missy, I was just gonna get Jason to wait and come to the lunch with you'

'what about Cory?' Jason asked and mum raised a brow and I blushed glaring at Jason.

'oh don't be silly he has things to do' mum answered laughing a little but I knew it was a fake laugh.

'he is allowed to come right?' I asked making sure and mum nodded.

'yes, of course. He has been wonderful this whole trip, I may even send him home early'

'only if he wanted too' Jason cooed moving away so I couldn't hit him.

'what do you mean? Living with our family for so long I think I'd want to leave early' mum replied looking between Jason and I. I rolled my eyes again, our family wasn't that bad.

'no if I was living with you, mum, I'd leave early' Jason replied and I smirked trying to hide my laughter. Mum glared at Jason who disappeared down the stairs.

'well I guess if Cory is around he can come with you, besides I thought he was taking the little kids skiing this morning. It's nearly ten am, where is he by the way?' she asked crossing the hall. My eyes widened and I gulped a little.

'um mum, I think you should give him some privacy and maybe he's already gone'

'not possible, the kids are being loaded into the car now'

'then why ask where he is? Shouldn't they leave when he does?' I asked and noticed Jason walking past us.

'oh yeah I left Cory a note on his bed, which he didn't seem to be in but I'm taking the kids this morning' he mentioned as he walked past. Mum gasped watching Jason walk away from her without more explanation.
