"This is stupid," I said. "I'll just tell Jack that I didn't mean what I said the other day."
"No. That's stupid," Madison told me. I don't know why I was taking relationship advice from her, she hasn't had much luck in the love department, but I was.
"Fine, whatever, I'll go. But I'm not hooking up with a random person. I ain't about that life," I told them.
"Fine, just don't think about Jack," Rianne commanded.
"No promises," I sighed as we walked through the doors. The loud music insulted my ears and the entire house was full of people, making it hard to walk through. Almost as soon as I walked into the house, I was separated from Madison and Rianne, which was almost like a breath of fresh air.
"Hey gorgeous," a voice said, a little too close to my ear for comfort. I whipped around and faced the neck of someone. I lifted my head up so I was staring at their face.
"Hi," I replied. I think I replied anyway, I was too focused on his face to realize anything else around me.
"What's a beautiful girl like yourself doing by yourself? Where's your boyfriend?" the guy asked.
"No boyfriend," I told him. "What about you? Do you have a girlfriend?"
"Nope," he said shaking his head.
"I'm all by myself. Well as of right now, my friends are around here somewhere."

I don't know exactly how, but in less than thirty minutes he was sitting on a chair and I was on his lap, making out. We were surrounded by a bunch of other couples too. If my judgment wasn't a little clouded by all the people around me and Turn Down for What blasting through out the house, I probably wouldn't be on this random guy's lap.
I heard my name being called somewhere near me and I pulled away from him, whom I learned was named Braden, and looked around the room. My eyes eventually found Madison and Rianne in the crowd and they gestured telling me to go to them.
"What's wrong?" Braden asked, noticing my confusion.
"Nothing. I'll be right back," I said, getting off of his lap and walking over to them. "What do you want?"
"I'm sorry to interupt you, but we saw Jack Johnson, which means Jack Gilinsky is probably here too," Rianne said and Madison nodded along while she talked. My eyes got wide and I had to calm myself down.
"So, Jack and I aren't dating," I said, but I also don't want him to know I was making out with this guy, because honestly, I don't know anything about him, other than his name. And most of the night I had just imagined talking to Jack the next time, because all I wanted to do was tell him I had made a mistake the other day and I actually wanted to get back together.
"Whatever. But don't say that we didn't warn you," Madison said, putting her hands up in defeat.
"Lakyn," a voice said behind me and I saw Madison and Rianne's eye's get wide, automatically knowing it was Jack standing behind me. I whipped around and it was, in fact, Jack Gilinsky.
"Hey Jack," I said, trying to keep my voice from shaking.
"Well bye," Madison and Rianne said before walking away quickly.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, still scared about Jack finding out about Braden.
"A friend invited Jack and I, and you know how we like parties," Jack shrugged. "Oh, by the way, it looks like Braden is getting lonely," Jack whispered, getting close to my ear.
"How do you know him?"
"He's the friend I was talking about."
"I hate my life right now. Did it suddenly get really hot in here?"
"It's fine, Lakyn. We're not dating, right. It's not my choice," Jack said, oddly cool with this.
"Are you high?" I asked, even though it was clear he wasn't.
"No. I'm completely sober," he laughed.
"It was worth a shot," I muttered to myself. "This is possibly the worst time to tell you this, but I take back everything I said a few days ago. I do want us to get back together."
"What about Braden?" Jack smirked.
"I don't even know anything about him, other than that his name is Braden and you know him somehow."
I looked up and saw him start walking towards us. "Hey Jack. Do you know Madilyn?"
Jack and I smiled at each other. "Yeah. We know each other from Omaha. We used to date actually."
"Oh," he said, the big smile he had on his face faded as Jack finished his statement. He leaned down to my ear and whispered, "I'll be upstairs," and walked away.
"Gross," I said, as shivers went down my spine. "He didn't even know my name."
"At least he got the -lyn part. I'm actually surprised he remembered that much."
"Wait. So you're perfectly fine with the fact that I just made out with your friend?" I asked but as soon as I did I felt heat rise to my face, embarrassed that I actually did that.
"Well, I mean, you've done worse with Sam and I have to leave that in the past because it doesn't concern me."
"You never seize to amaze me with the stuff that comes out of your mouth."
"Am I that stupid or good?" Jack questioned, laughing.
"A little bit of both," I answered.
"Jack is telling me I need to go," Jack said, pointing to a figure behind me and I turned around.
"Why is everything happening behind me?" I asked.
"Why did you realize that?" Jack laughed.
"Because this is like the 5th time I've turned around to see something happening behind me," I explained.
"Alright, well I have to go," Jack said.
"Wait, so are we dating again or not because I got lost in this whole conversation."
"I'll talk to you later," Jack smirked, knowing that not giving me a straight answer would drive me insane.
"Fuck yourself, Gilinsky," I yelled as he walked away, although I was smiling.
