"Guys, give him space, we can't just crowd around him."
"But he's waking up now!"
"He was completely knocked out!"
"Still, give the poor guy some room."
"Owen, are you okay?"
Owen opens his eyes to see his friends all crowding around him. He shuts his eyes again, not feeling too great.
"Yup, he's okay," Urana sighs in relief. "So all of us really got our Guardians huh? That's pretty cool."
"Yeah! Brenton got a whole phoenix!" Alex exclaims.
"They only stayed for a second before leaving," Ava pouts. "They were super cool though!"
"It's loud," Owen mumbles.
"Guys, let's give Owen some room," Brenton smiles at everyone.
"So this means that Jamil is the only one who hasn't waken up yet," Sasha says. "But he'll be okay."
"Where is he?" Owen jolts up, sitting upright. "Xian bhai and Amy baji too?"
"They both woke up too. Xian hyung left to stay with Jamil hyung," Brenton holds onto Owen's shoulder. "You need to rest though, everyone is injured badly."
"No, I need to see Jamil bhai," Owen gets out the bed and they all follow Owen as he runs to where Jamil is in the hospital room. Owen covers his mouth his hand. He hopes that Brenton isn't looking-or anyone else for that matter-for all the memories that would trigger.
Multiple magic circles are around Jamil. He's also covered in a cast and wrapping bandages. Owen stands by the bed, Xian looking at Jamil with a frown.
"We saved him so late..." Xian's voice trails off. He wipes his eyes. "He's hurt because of me! All because of me...! I'm sorry Owen..."
"It's not your fault. There's no way you could've known he would be kidnapped then," Owen clenches his fists and feels the anger boil inside him. He looks up to see Amy fuming as well. Her jaw shut tight and her fists shaking.
Tyler looks from Jamil to Ava. He frowns and looks down at his hands. Tyler then turns on his heel and leaves the hospital room. He makes his way to the bathroom again.
That could've easily been Ava.
And I could've easily been Owen.
I'm less powerful compared to all of them. I literally can't protect Ava...
"Tyler, is something wrong?" Rohan comes into the bathroom. "Your spirit seemed...disturbed."
"No, just..." Tyler sighs. "I really am just realizing how many times Ava could've easily been in that hospital bed...and how easily I could've been the one waiting for her to wake up..."
"Yeah, that's the thing that comes with having mages you care about," Rohan stands next to Tyler. "I wish I could give you advice, but there's nothing to say. I still feel the same way anytime I see someone fall. When it's one of my own family members, I feel that SilverBlue urge to attack the mage who hurt them. I guess the point of this is that we have to understand that we can't save everyone."
"But...I want to be able to protect Ava," Tyler looks at himself in the mirror. "But with the way I am now, I can't do that. I need to get stronger so that I don't have to see her get hurt."
"That's good and all but everyone's spirit easily falls into the addiction of power. You have to be very careful that you don't fall into that trap," Rohan warns. "Hiro is someone who's better to talk to about this. He gets what you're going through."
