"Damnit."
"You're telling me."
"Relax, if we're still here it means all of this works. We still have chances."
"But we're running out of time. Besides, we're fading. I know all of you can tell."
"Again, everything is under our control. We know everything that will happen and we control it."
"But we only know of it when it happens. Remember, the time line is changing and our memories are changing as it follows."
Six different mages let out a sigh. They sit down on the seats around the table. A hologram pops up of a timeline.
"So what should happen now?"
"Don't you remember? The whole thing with Adaj and Jamil happens."
"How the hell am I supposed to know? It was you who was there, not me."
"But now all of us are going to be there."
"So we only have one set of memories to rely on as of right now? Tch, that's not good."
"It'll be fine. Amy is involved this time, so we may get her with this."
All six of them study the holograms. Their eyes focused despite being covered with a hood. They look at each other then back at the hologram.
"Ugh, this is so hard! I'm so done with all of this."
"Feel free to go back. But know that we're doing this for ourselves."
"Of course it's going to be hard. After all, nothing we've done has been easy."
"But we have to do it. For ourselves. This isn't for anyone else but ourselves."
"We'll never be happy with what's going on right now. We'll never be happy unless we do what we plan to do."
"Again with happy? When was the last time we've ever been happy? Don't give us false hope genius. We're destined for shit."
A prophecy shows up on the timeline. They all let out a collective sigh, knowing exactly what the prophecy is about and who it's about.
"I guess we're pretty close to making this come true huh?"
"Sure seems like it. The summer of 2021 is when everything will be gone."
"Pretty accurate description of our plan. Can't say it's the most original idea but hey, it's pretty great."
"Ha, I still can't believe we had to come back to this time. I remember it all. Every single moment."
"All that pain and suffering will do us good. After all, why should anyone else be able to be happy and free when we couldn't be?"
"No one else needs to go through anything. With this we can just end it all. For everyone. Then we'll find peace."
Silence falls over the group.
--
"It's been an annoying few days," Brenton grumbles, stretching out his arms. "And we still can't go home yet." He messes with his silver bracelet.
"I'm worried about school. It's our last year and we're seniors sure, but we can't just skip so much!" Urana worries. "We barely made it to our SATs!"
"Relax, we have magical replacements there," Sasha waves her hand dismissively. "And what do you mean? We were there on time!"
"But I kinda wanted to be a cheerleader for real this year," Ava sighs. "But I get to fly here!"
"Me too," Alex pouts. "It's no fair that we have to sit here when we're perfectly fine!"
