Today's practice took much of Angela's time. she took a quick shower and threw on her nightie and dashed downstairs to sit with her brothers and sister before their dad's arrival.
They sat in the hall, pretending to be watching an educative documentary on plant and animal life and also pretending to be enjoying each other's company.
As soon as he walked in, they all run to hug him. The boys took his briefcase with from him. This time, he sat down and didn't go to his room like usual. "I am not well" he said with a heavy sigh. "I won't be going to work any time soon." "Oh dad, what's wrong?" Ellen asked. Angela stared at him. Yeah she was worried he wasn't well but how is she going to continue sneaking out for rehearsals and how is she going to even compete on the day of the main event? These thoughts danced through her mind as she kept on staring at her dad. "I've also decided to take some days off to take care of your dad" Cara added.

Angela passed out.

Few hours later...

"Baby girl are you alright?" Angela heard her dad say, as she opened her eyes to see her parents and siblings around her bed.
Angela nodded. "You seem upset, what is what is wrong?" Cara asked. "Oh just a migraine" she replied looking at Ellen's face. "I'll be fine"
"Is there anything you would need?" Cara asked, placing her palm at the side of Angela's face. "Just a sandwich would do" Angela replied.
"Jake get your sister a sandwich" Cara commanded. "I'll be back to check on you, sweetie" she said softly to Angela. She kissed Angela on her forehead and left with Richard.
"What kind of sandwich?" Jake asked.
"Peanut butter and jelly" she replied.
"What kind of peanut?" Jake asked reaching for his notebook and pen. "Crunchy or plain?" he added. "And what kind of jelly? Grape or gooseberry, what kind of bread...?" Angela cut him off. "This is ridiculous" she scowled at him. "Just get me an ordinary peanut butter and jelly sandwich on a plate"
"Very well ma'am" Jake grinned. "What kind of plate?"
Angela frowned at him, she wanted to get up and beat him but Ellen held her back. Jake and Chris run off.
She sighed heavily. "Ellen I have practise tomorrow"
"I know dear; I know" Ellen said hugging her. "How would I go without dad finding out since he is going to be home for who knows how long" she continued. "I am just so confused. I don't know what to do" Ellen hugged her and told her not to worry. She assured Angela that they were both in this together and that she would figure out a way for Angela.
Angela got up from her bed and she and Ellen walked downstairs to join the family watch a movie together. She saw popcorn, drinks and chocolate on the table and she thought to herself "this might not be bad after all.
Chris looked at Ellen. "Why are you wearing a pyjama?" he asked in a lowered tone. "It's not a pyjama. It's a costume" she replied in an even more lowered tone. "A costume for what?" Chris asked again. "Sleeping" Jake chirped in. "It is not a pyjama" Ellen glared. "Stop bothering your sister Christopher and Jacob" Dad said from the far corner "And let's enjoy the movie"
They made faces at Ellen and she rolled her eyes.
Her brothers were something else.

"Angela wake up" Angela heard a whisper and woke up. She looked at her alarm clock. It was 5:30 am. She turned her side to see who it was. It was Ellen. "Ellen?" Angela asked stretching. "It's 5:30 am" Angela yawned. "What are you doing here?" "I have a plan. Angela woke up and shifted to the other side of her bed so Ellen could sit.
She reached for water from the other side of her bed and gurgled a little. "So the plan covers, just today" Ellen said. "Although, it's not much, it is open to more ideas" she continued. "I might have to go with you today. So I will tell dad that George would be taking us to the hospital for a check-up"
Angela did not look too pleased. "You know how this man is controversial, would he buy it?" Angela asked. "Well, he has to" Ellen replied. She realised Ellen was already dressed and had her bag and everything. "Let me take my shower then" Angela said, hopping out of bed.
Angela quickly dried herself and tied her hair into a bun as usual and wore a red tank top with blue shorts and her black boyfriend jacket. She squats to put her all stars on and then reached for her assignment. She sang a couple of notes and then she put the book away. "Wow" Ellen said as Angela put her book into her pocket. "That was amazing" Angela. Ellen couldn't believe Angela had become this good within this short period. Angela blushed.
It was 7:00am so they both went down to get some breakfast.
"Yaya, I think I would have some of that. Smells good" Angela said to Yaya pointing over to the serving that was being taken out of the kitchen. "Those are toasts and fruit juice." Yaya replied. "They're for your parents." "okay" Angela replied clutching to her bag. "Where to? Miss Angela" Yaya asked. "Oh nowhere important." Angela shrugged. "Just a little outing with Ellen"
Ellen and Angela quickly finished their breakfast and took their dishes to the kitchen. Just as, they were about to leave the house they heard their dad's voice. "Where do you think you are going?" he asked. "I am taking Angela for a check-up" Ellen lied. "check up?" he asked. "Nonsense my child!" he laughed. "She is perfectly fine" "Dad, I don't really feel too good." Angela said feebly and reaching for her handkerchief to clean her face. "Okay, then don't worry about it." He smiled. "Some doctors and nurses would be coming over to check up on me this afternoon. I will let them see to you as well" he went on.
Angela did not want her dad to suspect she was actually well so she played along. "Okay dad" she said faking excitement. She run to hug him, and went to her room.

She told Ellen to tell her dad she wanted to be left alone and shut her door, and locked it. she quickly climbed through her window and passed the yard and sneaked out. She picked a cab and went straight for practise. She was scared alright, but it was a risk she was willing to take.

Some hours later, she was done with rehearsals and she sneaked in back home. She didn't go with George as usual because she didn't want her dad to notice that the car wasn't there and suspect she had gone out.
She sneaked back into her room, and covered herself with the bed spread. She picked up the AC remote and turned it on and opened a story book to read.
"Angela?" said dad, sticking his head out of the window. "Doctor Martins and his nurse are here to see you" he continued, opening her door.
"Oh" Angela exclaimed. "I'm better now" Angela grinned. "No need to worry"
They laughed and left her room. Angela heaved a sigh of relief
'Is this what I would be going through every day?' she thought to herself.
'Angela, text me back please' a popup notification appeared on her phone. "Argh Dylan" she said hitting her head.
'you looked super-hot today' another text popped up on her phone. "Frost" she smiled.
Angela put her book away and just decided to sleep.
