She released her bun as her long luscious curls bopped over her shoulders. Looking into the mirror with a keen eye, she carefully drew her eyebrows and patted her cheeks with powder. Carefully staring into the mirror, she put on her eyeliner and eye shadow and applied some mascara. She picked a red coloured lipstick to match her red body hugging strapless dress and smiled. She did love how she looked. She put on her choker and stared at herself briefly.
Knock! "Who is it?" Angela yelled. "It's me" Estelle yelled back. "And me too" Ellen backed up. "Come in"
Estelle and Ellen stared in awe for some minutes. "I hope you are aware that you are going for practise and not the main event" Ellen postulated. "I know, I know" Angela said, staring into the mirror and running her fingers through her hair. "I love to leave an impression... first impressions always count" "It's just practice, no need to go extra" Estelle added. "Wait, coast clear right?" Angela stopped her. "Yeah I made Marlene take them to the mall but I doubt she would be able to contain them for long. You know they are a handful" Estelle replied.
"Okay, then in that case, I'm leaving" Angela said. She quickly skidded downstairs before Ellen and Estelle could try to convince her to change her outfit.
George, her driver opened the back door of the highlander and she sat it. Estelle and Ellen rushed downstairs after her and waved her goodbye. "All the best" Ellen mouthed.
Angela smiled at them as the car moved on. She had to be there by 8. Her parents were away and her twin brothers and their bestfriend as well. She was nervous. She wondered how her trainer would be like and how things would even be as well.
She picked up her phone and received a text. "Hey Angie, I miss you. Call me?" she swiped the notification. Angela and Dylan had been seeing each other for some time. Suddenly, a new girl, Alicia shows up in school and Dylan completely loses focus for Angela. Although she still had feelings for him and it was a tough pill to swallow she swore never to talk to him again.
She did wonder why he'd text after all this while. Were things going south with Alicia? Or he had finally come to his senses that Angela was the one and only true love of his life? She didn't even want to think about it because the thoughts of their break up angered her. Memories of the two of them came to her mind, and she picked her handkerchief and cleaned the streak of tear that rolled down her cheek. "I am going to have a good day" she said to herself. "This boy will not ruin anything for me."We are here" George said as he got down to open the door for Angela. "Let me know when you are done so that I can come for you" Angela nodded and alighted.
She stood outside the memorial auditorium and just as she was about to dial the number, she heard a voice. "You're here" she turned. "You're a young dude?" Angela stared in awe. "Yeah I get that a lot" he smirked. "Let's go in"
He had this kind of face that stopped you in your tracks. From the depth of his eyes, to the gentle expressions of his voice, no one feature made him so handsome, although his eyes came close. His face was strong and defined and he had dark eyes which sloped downwards in a serious expression. Angela couldn't help but blush. She couldn't see his chest, although she wished she could. While a part of her told her to get a hold of herself, the other part of her made her crave for him. She let out a shaky sigh.
"Your name?" Angela asked him. "they call me frost" he smiled. "Well you do give me chills" Angela muttered. "What was that?" he asked. "No, I mean like your actual name" she exhaled. "You'll find out soon muffin" he smiled again. 'Who is this guy?' Angela thought to herself and who does he think he is?
They continued walking until they reached room 306. He opened the door, and there was an old lady seated in front of a piano.
The room was really big. There was a library on the other side of the room, which Angela presumed to contain musical content and there were musical instruments on the other side. There was a white board straight ahead.
"Is that my trainer?" Angela asked him. "Yes" he nodded. Angela shrugged. She was hoping it would be him. "So what are you doing here?" she asked. "That's my mother" he replied. And he closed the door.
"I'm Miss Patty" the old lady said calmly. "Welcome to my musical world" Although Miss Patty had smoky-grey hair and a weather worn skin she seemed a lot friendly. Angela assumed she was going to be a creepy old lady. She explained to Angela what working with her entailed, and her expectations of Angela. She also mentioned she had never had a student who was second best and so she had high expectations of Angela.
"sing, let me hear you" she said. Angela cleared her throat and sang a little song she composed some time back. She sang her heart out and put in her all.
"needs a little polishing, but impressive" Miss Patty smiled halfway. She handed Angela some books containing songs and notes. "You do know how to read musical notes right?" Miss Patty asked. Miss Patty liked to look straight and talk and not directly to her face. "Yes I do" Angela replied politely. "Well there you go, that's your assignment for today" Miss Patty responded. "Wait, is that it?" Angela asked, looking confused. "It's your first day, you don't want me bombarding you with voluminous books do you?" she asked Angela. Angela was very confused. She picked up her phone and dialled George's number.George came for her and she went home.
"You won't believe it" Angela said to Estelle as she took off her earrings and cleaned her make up. "What happened? What was he like?" Marlene asked dreamingly. "Not he, she! And by she I mean an old lady" Angela snapped. They all burst into laughter. "Oh but for real her son is really dreamy. He has this well-defined face, and his muscles are well built, he has a well-toned body..." "Angela Anderson" Ellen said snapping Angela back into reality. "What?" "He is cute" Angela said, taking a shirt from her closet and putting it on. "Did he not notice how gorgeous I was?" she asked. "He didn't ask for my number or my Instagram" "Relax Angie" Marlene added.
"So wait, she just gave you these books and asked you to come and learn how to sing them and bring them tomorrow?" Estelle asked. "Yes, pretty much" Angela said tying her hair into a bun. "So looks like I've got work to do.
"Speaking of which, Dylan texted me" Angela rolled her eyes. "I mean after all this while; you text me" Angela noticed the changed expressions on their faces. "I didn't text back" she blurted out. "But then I'm wondering why he suddenly texts me after so long" "Don't mind him boys are trash" Ellen said.
They quickly dashed downstairs to grab something to eat and Angela spoke about what she thought about the woman and her son.
"Angela, kindly check the prescription on my bottle and tell me what is says." Jake said, as Angela descended the stairs with her friends and Ellen "it says three spoons to be taken three times daily" Angela replied. "But I only have one spoon" Jake replied. "Idiot" Angela muttered.
Ellen sat down in the couch and opened her book, "Guys, listen to this, this dictionary says when you laugh your whole face smiles and you make Ha-Ha sounds. Isn't it interesting?"
"Ha-ha sounds?" Chris asked. "Ha Ha Ha" "that's the funniest thing ive ever heard"
Angela got up to go to the washroom and left her phone behind.
She received a text so Estelle picked up the phone. "Angie, I still love you and I think about you a lot." Estelle looked at the name on the text and it was Dylan. "Marlene, Ellen come look at this" she called. "What is his problem now?" Ellen asked. "Maybe he actually wants her back" Marlene replied. "Or he is up to no good. Always assume the worst first" Estelle replied back.
"Who is up to no good?" Angela asked, cleaning her hand with tissue paper. "Dylan texted you again" Estelle replied handing over the phone to Angela. Angela had planned to eat but her mood was ruined. "Guys, I need to be alone" she said sadly and run back upstairs to her room.
She opened the books and started reading. She took some notes and sang some. She just lay on her bed, and she fell asleep.
