"Just be careful, okay?" Amanda pleaded through the phone to Miles, who bit her lip as she came closer to the house where the party was taking place. The boy who was throwing the party was known to be the 'wild' one and he was popular because of it - his parents were rich, so he had his own house just off of the campus. Miles had no idea how he was even passing his classes since as he was always either planning his big parties or attending the smaller ones other students threw.
"I'll do my best... I'll call you when I undoubtedly leave early." Miles said and Amanda sighed.
"You better, okay?" She urged and Miles promised once again before the two girls said goodbye to each other and Miles jogged over to DJ when she saw him waiting for her outside the house.
"You look beautiful." DJ complimented, giving her a hug and Miles hugged him back - it was clear to DJ that Miles was nervous that what happened last time would happen again, but he was determined to not let that happen.
"I suppose you don't look too bad yourself."
"Come on." DJ encouraged, hooking his arm with hers and they headed into the house where the party was already in full swing. Music was playing so loudly that it seemed to be making the walls shake and the house was already so packed that it was hard for them to even fit inside. "I'll get us drinks!" DJ yelled over the music and Miles nodded her head. "What do you want?!"
"I'll just have a beer!" Miles called back and DJ nodded, pushing his way through the crowd and Miles stayed by the door, where the cold breeze from outside made the hot house more bearable. She'd get involved in the dancing and the actual party when DJ came back, she didn't like being in such crowded places when she didn't know anybody and DJ just seemed to radiate calmness and confidence - he infected everybody around him.
"Hey! Who invited the lesbian?!" One of the boys yelled and Miles sighed - her worst fear was happening already and she'd barely been at the party for two minutes.
"Leave me alone." She mumbled, going to walk away to find DJ but she yelped as he grabbed hold of her and pulled her back.
"Don't go running away! Where's your girlfriend? Amanda, right?" He smirked, noticing it was getting Miles angry. She was always protective over her relationship with Amanda, and for once she was relieved that she wasn't at the party and was instead spending the weekend with her brother. "It's a shame the hottest girls are always lesbians - unless you're into threesomes?" He smirked, laughing as Miles slapped him across the face. He was too drunk to even feel it.
"I'm sure if we ever do have a threesome, we'd pick a better-looking guy than you," Miles growled, before shoving her way through the crowd to find DJ as the boy's friends laughed at him. "DJ?!" She called, stumbling into the kitchen and she sighed when she found him by the drinks but he wasn't picking them out a beer, he was already making out with a girl against the kitchen counter. Miles pulled out her phone, sending him a text - he was bound to check his phone if he ever started looking for her:
'Gone home. It happened again.'
And with that, Miles walked out of the back door and hopped the fence in the backyard, heading back towards her dorm - she had to cut through the park to get there. The same park she'd walked through earlier that day with DJ when they went grocery shopping and she pulled out her phone again, texting her girlfriend:
'I'm already heading home. I'll call you later. Love you. x'
Miles shoved her phone into her pocket as she went under the bridge but her eyes widened when she noticed something - a group of men were running away, leaving someone behind and Miles gasped when she recognized the person that slid down the wall until they hit the floor - it was the girl she'd given money to earlier.
"Hey!" Miles rushed to her, her eyes wide as she got closer. The girl was badly beaten up, blood on her face and she had her arms around herself. "Are you okay?" She asked and the girl nodded, using the wall to try and stand up.
"I'm fine." She choked out, going to stand up straight but she instantly hunched forward, in obvious agony and Miles caught her before she could fall to the ground, slowly lowering her down to make the impact less.
"You're not okay, sweetie... those guys hurt you." Miles breathed.
"I'm fine." She repeated, but it was obvious to her that the young girl was anything but fine.
"Come on, I'll bring you back to my dorm - I'll help you."
