"Is that Miles?" DJ guessed, hearing Kath's phone go off and she smiled as she read over the text message.
"Yeah, it is - she's spending the weekend with Marco back in LA, they're seeing a show together tonight and they have a hotel together but she wants the full details of how the appointment goes," Kath said and DJ chuckled.
"At this rate, she'll be eloping with the guy next weekend." DJ teased and Kath rolled her eyes playfully.
"Oh, shut up - they're cute together." Kath defended herself, looking down at herself as DJ kept his eyes on the road, driving them to the hospital. He found himself subconsciously driving a little slower when he had Kath in the car. He didn't want anything to ever happen to his little family - the love of his life and their child were in the car with him, he didn't want to risk something happening.
"I think I'm starting to show... your Mom said I would show earlier because I've been pregnant before," Kath said, laying her hand on her slightly swollen stomach and she smiled as DJ leaned over and placed a hand over hers for a moment before he concentrated on driving again.
"As long as you're both healthy, that's all that matters to me," DJ said and Kath nodded, looking out of the window as DJ kept driving. She couldn't help but watch all of the families, imagining them as her own someday soon - Moms pushing strollers, Dads carrying their sons or daughters on their shoulders as they spent the afternoon shopping. She couldn't wait to finally get to have moments like that with her child - she'd been waiting to be a real mother since she was sixteen years old.
"The comments were positive... everybody is being so supportive," Kath said, looking over at DJ slowly and he smiled.
"Good, otherwise I'd have to kick fourteen million asses and I'm not sure I've got the energy for that." DJ teased, making her laugh.
"There were only a few negative ones, but you can't have everybody like you," Kath said and DJ nodded.
"I honestly don't care if everybody in the entire world hates me... as long as you and our baby like me, that's enough for me."
"I think our baby kinda has to like you - you're their daddy. It's unconditional." Kath said with a smile and DJ couldn't help but grin at the thought.
"Are you staying the night at the hotel tonight? We can get the announcement done... plus, Miles won't be there so we can celebrate as much as we want to." DJ smirked, chuckling when Kath smacked him in the chest.
"We'll just see how the day goes, loverboy." She mocked. DJ couldn't wipe the grin from his face - he couldn't wait to see her reaction to knowing she was going to see their baby. She had absolutely no idea at all.

"Your weight is getting better!" The midwife praised as she helped Kath to step down from the scales.
"It is?" Kath breathed, relieved. She was terrified that a mixture of the aftermath of her sepsis and how underweight she was would affect the baby somehow, so it comforted her to know that she was putting on weight.
"You're just a couple of pounds away from being where I'd ideally want you to be." The midwife said and Kath smiled, laughing as DJ leaned in and kissed her out of pure pride.
"That's all my Mom's cooking." DJ chuckled and she laughed, nodding her head. Karla always made sure that Kath ate three meals a day, even if she wasn't hungry and didn't finish it all - it was still something she was getting used to, having a mother who cared.
"Now, let's see how the little one is doing." The midwife encouraged and Kath's jaw dropped, her eyes widening.
"Wait, what? See it?" Kath choked out and DJ beamed, his eyes already lining with tears when he could see how close to crying she was.
"You see that piece of equipment right there?" DJ asked, pointing to what looked like a strange computer and Kath nodded her head. "That wand right there, it can see through your stomach... we're gonna see the baby." DJ breathed, smiling and he let a few tears fall as she burst into tears and hit him.
"You knew this entire time and didn't tell me this is what these appointments are?!" She exclaimed, but DJ knew she wasn't angry and the midwife smiled at the two of them as DJ leaned in and kissed her, Kath instantly kissing him back.
"Surprise." He whispered and Kath just kissed him again before taking his hand, letting the midwife helped her to lie down on the bed.
The gel was warm on Kath's stomach, but she barely noticed it - her eyes were locked on the monitor that was turned away from them as the midwife did her checks.
"Baby is in a good position, a strong and healthy heartbeat... a little small, but not enough to cause me any concern at all - some babies are just smaller than others." The midwife said. "See for yourself." The midwife said, turning the monitor and Kath's tears fell faster when she saw her baby.
"Congratulations." The midwife grinned, DJ and Kath crying together out of pure happiness.
