DJ chuckled when he looked over at Kath as he drove them to their house viewing - they had to head straight there after the appointment at the hospital. Kath hadn't looked up from the sonogram picture of the baby since they walked out of the room. "You forgive me for not telling you?" DJ said with a smile and Kath nodded her head, still not looking away.
"Yes... I just wish I had one of these for my son... so I could just... look at him. I don't have a picture, I don't have anything... so I'm glad we're gonna vlog this pregnancy, document it." Kath breathed and she smiled softly when DJ leaned over and kissed her temple when they got to a red light.
"We'll think of something to remember Junior." He breathed and Kath smiled softly at DJ using her son's name. She had to register him after she spoke to the police and she couldn't think of a name for him, so she simply called him Junior. She was allowed to keep his grave where it was too, since as it was where the public wouldn't go and it was hidden. Her circumstances meant that she didn't get into trouble for not registering him sooner or for burying him illegally. She didn't know she was doing anything wrong.
"A tree would be good." Kath breathed.
"Yeah?"
"It's what signifies his grave in the park... and we can watch it grow in his memory, in his name... our baby will grow up watching it grow and we can plant flowers around it or something when our child is older - something they can help care for and think about their big brother," Kath said and DJ nodded in agreement.
"That sounds really nice, baby girl," DJ said softly. "We're here." He said, pulling up in the driveway and Kath finally looked up and she bit her lip when she saw the house that could be theirs. It was beautiful, it looked like a true family home - white picket fence and all. There was a garage big enough for two cars and a front lawn, plenty of space for plants and for their baby to play. The neighbors seemed friendly with each other, some of them were talking to each other and there were kids playing out in the street since as it wasn't a busy road.
"Hey, guys!" The realtor called from the black front door, watching as DJ and Kath walked on the stone path to the door and he shook their hands. "Come in!" He encouraged, leading the way into the large hallway and the staircase was on the right, doors all around them. "As you can see, the hall is very spacious - plenty of room for a stroller." The realtor said with a smile and DJ smiled back at him, holding Kath's hand and lacing their fingers together. He knew she was still slightly wary around male strangers.
"It's beautiful." Kath admired.
"That it is! You have five bedrooms in this house, along with a basement and an attic that can either be converted into extra bedrooms or can be used as a workspace. I'll leave you guys alone to have a look around!" He said and they both thanked him before DJ led the way around the house, both of them taking their time - they weren't in any rush.
They walked around every room in the house, even the attic and it was much bigger than they expected it to be for the price - the owners of the house wanted to move quickly, so it was on the market for way under what the place was worth, so DJ knew it would be a solid investment but he could imagine his family living and growing in the house. He could already imagine himself using the attic as his workspace since as it was huge and out of the way and even had its own bathroom, it left the rest of the house for his family. They walked into the final bedroom together and DJ grinned as Kath instantly cooed, seeing that it was already set up as a nursery.
"It's bad that I'm already imagining how I'd redecorate in here, isn't it?" Kath mumbled, making DJ chuckle.
"You are?"
"Yeah, I... I'm picturing where I'd have our crib and what furniture we'd have... what color we'd do the walls... I was doing the same in our bedroom and the en-suite... pretty much every room, to be honest, but this room in particular... the nursery." Kath breathed and DJ smiled.
"You love it too?" He questioned and Kath smiled over at him, nodding her head and she pulled something out her pocket, handing it to him.
"My investment." She smirked and DJ chuckled at the hundred dollar bill she handed him - money she'd earned from her art videos. DJ handed it right back to her.
"No, no. That's not our deal. I buy the house, you buy something for the baby." He reminded her and Kath smiled.
"We're buying this house?" She breathed.
"We're buying this house." He confirmed, grabbing her hand and she laughed as he dragged her down the stairs in search of the realtor.
