Mark laid against the headrest of the chair, his eyelids closing as exhaustion weighed them down more and more.
"Marcus!" Abby called, putting her hands on her knees as she caught her breath.
"That's not my name." Mark groaned, opening his eyes. "What's wrong?"
"Peter is coming tomorrow." Abby stated.
"I know." Mark nodded. "And I also know it's..." He took a glance at his phone. "2:07 a.m."
"I don't care." Abby huffed like a small child, crossing her arms. "Can we please run our pas again?"
"Abby..." Mark's voice drew out as he stood from the chair. "Honey, I don't even live here. It's late. I have to go back home." Mark looked out the window as if he could see his own apartment from there.
"Peter won't pick us as apprentices if you go home now." Abby spoke, her voice quivering slightly.
Mark slowly approached her, grabbing both of her hands in his. "Peter also will not pick us as apprentices if we show up to class tomorrow morning looking like zombies."
Abby sucked in a sharp breath; she knew he was right, but didn't want to admit it.
"It's in the both of our best interests to get some rest." Mark tilted Abby's head down gently, pressing a kiss to her scalp. "We're going to be alright."
"But there is so much pressure, and we already know that Ben's going to be an apprentice, so where does that leave--" Abby spoke a mile a minute on one breath.
"Abigail Clayton, look at me." Mark cut her off. "I want three things from you right now, alright? I want you to go change and put on some comfy sweatpants, I want you to get some rest. And lastly, I want you to be able for you to see yourself through my eyes. You are so incredibly talented, and it kills me that you don't see it."
"I do see it." Abby's voice dropped to a whisper as his compliments towards her made her shy.
"If you saw it, you wouldn't still be awake." Mark stated. He pressed one more kiss to her cheek before silently leaving the apartment.
