"What about you Jason? I question him.
"Alright, sure. What are we going to do though?" He asks. "I'm not sure, we'll figure something out" I respond.
I drop them off at their house and drive off.
I'm glad he accepted at least. I can't wait for what's in store!
*Jason's POV*
I wake up the next day, to the sound of my alarm. I forgot to turn it off last night, because I forgot it was the weekend.
How annoying..
I cancel my alarm, and notice a text from Flynn.
"Hey, Hannah said she doesn't have your number. She wanted me to tell you that she's on her way over." I look at the time from his text. It's from about twenty minutes ago.
My eyes widen at his message.
Shit!
I quickly jump up, and throw on a pair of jeans, a shirt, and a sweatshirt. I rush to the bathroom and brush my teeth and hair.
After finishing up, I hear a knock on the door. I open the door and see Hannah standing in my doorway with a smile on her face.
"I'm ready" I say to her.
"Well, let's go then" She responds.
I follow her, getting into the nice looking car. "So where are we going?" I ask her.
"Well, first we're going to grab some ice cream" She responds. "Then I thought we could finish up at my place, we have a pool" She reminds me."Oh, alright" Is all I say. "Jeez, don't look so excited" She kids me. We arrive at an ice cream shop, and she buys me a chocolate covered ice cream cone. "Thanks" I say, accepting the ice cream. She nods her head and drives off.
"Why didn't you get any ice cream?" I ask her.
"I'm fat.." She says with a slight flown. "If you're fat, then I must be an elephant" I say to her with a laugh. She laughs and shoves my arm."Oh shut up, you're skinnier than me" She says with a huge smile. I can't help but to smile back. "But for real, you're not fat at all" I tell her seriously. She looks at me and cracks a wider smile before uttering the words "Thanks" with a soft voice.
She pulls into a driveway. "We're here" She says while getting out of the car. I step out and my mouth drops. "T-this isn't the same house as b-before" I say with a concerned and questioning face.
"Oh yeah, I guess I never told you. My parents sometimes have issues with their marriage, soo they bought a second house just in case they end up fighting. It actually happens a lot. It normally ends with my mom storming off, and ending up here" She says to me.
"It's actually been pretty bad lately.. But so far, never enough to split them apart for too long. She always ends up returning at some point" She says with a slight frown. "At some point?" I question.
"Well, sometimes it takes a week, but sometimes it takes a couple days" She responds shrugging her shoulders. "Oh.. I'm sorry for asking" I say with a frown. "It's fine, let's just go have some fun" She says with a happier tone in her voice.
We walk in the large house. "Oh, there's a bathroom up the stairs to the left. I'm going to use the one downstairs to change. Help yourself to anything!" She says before walking down the stairs. I walk up the stairs and enter the bathroom. It's huge. Everything about her house is huge.
What do her parents do for work again?
I should ask her when I get the chance.
I finish up, changing into my swimming shorts and walking out with my towel and shirt in my hands.
"You can head out to the backyard!" She shouts from downstairs. "W-where is it?" I respond. "It's down the stairs to the right" She responds with a giggle.I walk down the stairs, heading into a rather large room. I look to the right and see a glass sliding door.
Did her parents have a thing for glass doors?
I open the door and head to the backyard, which is equally as huge as the house. There is a large pool, and a patio with stepping stones that lead to the underground pool. I follow the path and feel the water with my toes.
It's rather cold..
Great.
Is it too late to go home?I dip one foot in, letting my temperature equalize with the pool.
What's taking her so long-
I snap out of my thinking process, as I feel two hands push my back, and I fall into the pool.
"It's so cold!" I shout as Hannah looks at me and laughs. She planned this!"It's not funny! Just you wait!" I shout, running towards the steps, and I splash her with the cold water and she screams, running away.
I get out of the water and chase her around the pool. "Jason no! I'm sorry!" I hear her scream in defeat. "It's too late for sorry! You're gonna pay!" I say, trapping her and pushing her in. Before I can realize it, she grabs my hand and pulls me towards her. I look at her, noticing her facial expression as she does this.
She has a sly smirk on her face. This devil!
We go tumbling into the deep water, and emerge at the top laughing hysterically. We continue, swimming around, splashing, and making small talk.I have to admit, this is nice.. Oh right! I wanted to ask her about her parents. I figure now is a good time.
"So, uh Hannah?" I ask with a quiet voice. "Yeah, what's up?" she says with a calm voice.
"Um, so I hope I don't offend you by asking this" I say to her. "Of course not, what is it?" She asks with a concerned look."Well, I was just wondering um.. What do your parents do for work?" I ask in hesitation. She bursts out laughing at the question.
"Well, I know why you're asking. They own two houses, and really nice ones. They also have really nice cars, so why wouldn't you ask? I don't blame you" She responds. "My mom works in the real estate business. My dad's also a lawyer. But not like the ones in the TV shows, he works in kind of a smaller firm. He does make good money though. Between the two of them, I guess they can afford all of this" She responds with a saddened look.
"I'm sure you haven't noticed them around, though. They're always at work or getting drunk.. Because of this, I had to step up and become an adult much sooner than most children. I've been making my own meals, cleaning, doing my own laundry for a long time now. I have keys for both houses because I have to be able to get from place to place, and check up on everything since they don't"
"I'm s-sorry, I shouldn't have asked.." I say with a stiff face. She nudges my arm. "Don't worry about it, besides you have a right to know" She replies with a half smile. She looks up to the sky, and we both hear thunder. "Hey, let's get out of here it's bad to be swimming in a storm" She says, and we both exit the pool.
We sit down on the couch and chat for a little bit before it starts getting dark. "I suppose we should get you home now" She says with disappointment in her tone. I give her a reassuring smile, and she drives me home.
"I wanted to thank you, I had a lot of fun today" I say with a smile. "No problem!" She responds.
After our little hang out, I walk inside and head to sleep.
What a fun day.. I hope me and Hannah can be friends forever" I think to myself, and drift off to sleep.
