I woke to an empty bed, Callen didn't come home last night and I had a feeling he wouldn't until tonight anyway. Feeling spoilt, I lavished the time in bed and got comfortable. Soon enough I heard an eager doorbell ruin my bliss. I jumped up and to the door to find Jade tapping her foot impatiently.
"We have to talk." She said.

When she finally pulled up at an empty park bench, we sat down and she unloaded her heavy heart onto my already burdened shoulders.
"Nala I'm a werewolf. I'm also what they call a rouge. My mum and dad left their packs to be with each other so, I don't have a pack. Dad died and mums too far away and stoned to actually care about what I do." She said as tears welled in her eyes.
I frowned deeper, "Jake is your mate, isn't he?" I asked not comprehending why she was feeding me this information now of all times.
She nodded. "Nala, it always involved you! Callen is a wolf but you are not his mate," She said slowly, tracing my reaction. "Plus, the fact that you aren't human either..." she added, leaning away from me.
Inside my head, things were exploding. How could I not be a human? What was I then? If being a human was a lie then what else was I being lied to about?
And then the mate fiasco! All the possibilities ran through my head, sending my nerves into over drive.
"Nala, Theo took a piece of your hair to his pack witch and asked for an analysis. It came back positive." She said avoiding my eyes.
"Positive?" I asked, prying. This felt wrong. Prying for answers about my own life.
"Positive for inhuman blood." She said lowly. I felt like the energy had been sucked out of me and it was hard for me to concentrate as she continued. "You're a hybrid. Your particular heritage is extremely rare now-a-days." She said, pausing as an elderly couple walked past. Once they were out of ear shot she looked at me expectantly. "Questions?" she asked, her eyebrows raised and all I cold do was shake my head. I didn't ant to argue and say that I knew everything about my life because obviously... I didn't.
"Good." She said before continuing. "You are known as a wolveryne. Your genetic analysis explained that your mother and father were two different species. Apparently, your paternal DNA carried a werewolf gene and your mother's chromosome carried a vampire's gene." She said reading off a small piece of parchment she pulled from her wallet.
I frowned deeply and pursed my lips as she stared at the paper. "Yeah..." she paused before starting again. "So, your dad was a werewolf and your mother was a vampire." She concluded. I stared at her for a moment before standing. "Oh f**king well!" I said before looking around. "How they died is a mystery because vampires can't f**king die from a car accident!" I yelled.
Something didn't add up. How could a simple car crash kill a family of supernatural beings? I felt my heart crying and my stomach aching. "They weren't killed from an accident." She whispered and I spun to her and glared.
"Excuse me?" I asked and she avoided my eyes. "Nala sit down, what I'm about to tell you is going to sound unbelievable." She said patting the seat beside her. I threw my hands in the air. "None of this sounds believable!" I yelled as I began to collect stares within the park. Jade's eyes flicked around the area before whispering; "Sit down and I will explain it. Like I have been trying to for the past twenty minutes."
I sat down angrily and stared at her. "Well?!" I asked and she rolled her eyes. "I know that it doesn't sound right or nice but it's the truth. They weren't killed by an accident. The accident was staged." She said before grasping my hand.
Before I could say anymore, I couldn't help but let this information sink in and I let a few tears fall from my eyes. Then all of a sudden, I was in her point of view. I knew everything was true. I felt her emotions as she let the news slip from her lips. She hated to give me this information and she hated that she was hurting me. I saw her memories from when she had found out with Theo this morning and when she had declared him a liar. She didn't like any of this any more than I did.
When I finally pulled my hand from her grasp, I was back to my vision and my body. Jade stared at me, her mouth open in shock. "So, its true..." she whispered, astonished.
I couldn't contain my confusion as more tears slipped down my face. "Why is this happening?" she asked and she shrugged. "I don't know if I can tell you that." She whispered and I glared. "Tell me!" I demanded and she breathed in deeply.
"Well, Theo is your mate. When you first made willing contact with Theo, meaning you touched him because you wanted to, it unlocked something. The contact with your mate, unlocked a new genetic DNA code that allowed you to read the person you make contact with." She said.
"Can I control it?" I asked, staring at my hands. "Theo said that you can, but it will take the training of the witch apparently." She whispered before holding her hands out. "Personally, I think you can teach yourself."
