"Mackenzie, although I always enjoy your company.. I wish you would've told me you were coming. You should've came in the morning, it's 12 at night." Melissa said as she handed Mackenzie some tea and took a seat beside her on the couch.

"I already told you mom, it was a spur of the moment decision." Mackenzie said before taking a sip of the tea.

Melissa noticed Mackenzie's tone, "Okay.. how's Johnny? He seems like a nice boy."

"Not as nice as you think." She mumbled. "Sorry what was that honey?" Melissa asked making Mackenzie shell up, "Listen mom, I don't feel like talking about him."

"What happened?" Mackenzie shot Melissa a small look that ultimately made her retract her question.

"I know you don't wanna talk about it but I'm sure whatever he did wasn't so bad." Melissa started which grabbed her attention, "I'm just saying not many guys would drive straight from Pittsburgh to New York for someone they didn't care about."

Mackenzie really tried to take her mother's words into account while giving her a small smile. "I just missed you." This made Melissa smile.

"How are you, mom?" She asked remembering the reason for the last time she was home.

"I'm as fine as someone who lost a child could possibly be." Melissa said putting an arm around her and pulling her closer.

Mackenzie put her head on her shoulder and looked at the picture of Maddie in front of them sitting on the coffee table, "Remember when she did your makeup and you thought it made you so much younger, to the point where you kept telling her that you guys were best friends now and she literally ran around the house trying to get away from you."

Melissa and Mackenzie began to laugh and had small tears coming out of their eyes. "You think she's okay?" Melissa asked looking down at Mackenzie.

"If there was one thing I was sure about with Maddie was how strong she was. I think she's fine mom." Mackenzie said reassuringly.

She's coming to the release party that's in a few days, you should too.

Yeah, she went to her moms house, in Pittsburgh.
And johnny before you even think about it, I don't think you should show up there.
In all my time that I've known Kenzie, the best way for it work is to let her come to you. She's a stubborn girl.
