catching feelings..

Mackenzie and Johnny were laying in Johnny's bed half-naked. Johnny laid facing the ceiling and Mackenzie laid on his chest.

"Lauren told me that you told her you guys are siblings. How come you never told me?" Mackenzie asked looking up at him.

"I don't know. Also she didn't take it so well so you wanna put in a good word for me?" Johnny asked sheepishly.

"You just need to give her some time.. she'll come around."

"Yeah I guess you're right.. you know we've never laid like this before." He said with a boyish grin on his face.

"Yea, don't count on-" She started to say before being interrupted by her phone ringing.

She got up and reached for her phone on his nightstand. Answering the phone she spoke, "Hello?"

"Sweetie, there's been an accident."

"Mom? What do you mean are you okay?!" Mackenzie asked sitting up frantically. This caused Johnny to also sit up.

"Honey, its Maddie. She was driving and a truck.."

Mackenzie's vision was getting blurry, "A truck what, Mom?"

"A truck hit her car. Mackenzie, your sister is dead."

Mackenzie got stiff. She hung up the phone and quickly got out of Johnnys bed.

"Hey, what happened?" Johnny asked taking the covers off of himself.

Gathering her clothes, Mackenzie was hysterical, "Oh.. nothing serious. Ya know it's just my sister is dead. No biggie." She said in shock.

"Wait what? Okay, where are you going?"

"Pittsburgh." She said finally putting all of her clothes on. "Fuck, I don't have my car." She said stopping at Johnnys door.

"Let me drive you." Johnny said putting on a shirt.

"No, I can't ask you to do that." Mackenzie said.

"You're not. I'm offering. You shouldn't be driving right now." He said putting on a jacket and grabbing his keys.

It was around 1am and Johnny was an hour away from Pittsburgh. Mackenzie had fallen asleep in the car while they were still in New York after calling Lauren and a bunch of crying.

Aforementioned phone call with Lauren...

"What do you mean Maddie's dead?" Lauren asked sitting next to Annie.

"My mom called and she was in an accident, right now I'm in Johnny's car on my way to Pittsburgh."

"I'll find a way to get there." Lauren said hanging up and getting off of the couch.

"Who's Maddie?" Annie asked leaning forward.

"Mackenzies sister."

"Oh my god. I'm so sorry." Annie said getting up. "Where do you have to go?"

"Pittsburgh."

"How are you getting there?" Annie asked.

"Hopefully Asher, if he's willing to drive. Can you come with? I know it's a lot to ask.."

"No, of course I'll come." Annie said.

"Okay I'll call Asher."

20 mins later..

Getting into Asher's car with Lauren, that's when Annie finally realized that, that was the same Asher that she had phone conversations with.

"Thank you again for doing this." Lauren whispered from the back seat tearing up.

"No, it's no problem. Honestly." Asher said before looking at Annie, "Who's your friend?"

" 'Her friend' , name is Annie." Annie said a little annoyed.

"No way. You're her." Asher said shocked. Of course he flirted over the phone but that was just for fun. He didn't expect her to be pretty.

"Yep. Don't get excited. I still don't like you." Annie said looking towards the window.
