-----Seth-----
Liberty had been living with me for two months. In that first month I had been able to convince her to share a room with me. I never slept as well as I did when I was with her. Some mornings I would wake up and she wouldn't be there. Id be terrified that she left again until I'd find her. But where I found her was worrying too. Most often, she'd be on the roof, gazing out towards the mountains. Some rare mornings she'd be in the kitchen with a cup of chocolate milk. She was addicted to that stuff. Drank it every single morning. One particular morning when i found her on the roof, I decided that we should go for a run.
"Hey sweetheart, would you like to go for a run in our other forms?"
She turned and smiled. My horse was quiet for once. I was worried. I wouldn't be able to control my other form unlike Liberty. I hoped I didn't do anything embarrassing.
Once we changed out of our night clothes, we went to the woods. She shifted and I was left breathless every time she changed. She was beautiful in both her forms. I especially loved her different colored eyes.
I shifted and we touched noses. Then she squealed and took off. I ran after her. She bucked and kicked about, acting like a little kid, I smiled inwardly. My horse was surprised at her speed. She was quick. Her hooves barely seemed to touch the ground as she ran.
We approached a small crack in the ground. Without breaking stride, she soared over it. I jumped after her. I loved watching her. She seemed so free and happy.
I worried about upcoming school. Summer was almost over. Brittany would be ticked off that id found my mate. But i knew Liberty could take care of herself. But Brittany would be a problem.
-----Liberty-----
Id never been happier. I had my mate beside me, and the open world before me. But I too, worried about the upcoming school year. I had been able to take off during my birthday because school had let out for the summer. But now, I'd be with Seth. I worried about what others would do. There were plenty of girls who had liked Seth, well, liked sleeping with him. I was mostly worried that he would sleep with someone else. I mean, we weren't officially mates, but he was mine.
But he wouldn't do that.....would he?
I snorted and shook these thoughts from my head. Enough. I focused on running. Seth and I slowed near a river bend that had many weeping willows and apple trees. I loved coming here. I grazed on fallen apples while Seth drank from the river. Eventually, we shifted back to human and hung out, talking about ourselves and our families. Seth was leader to be. But for now his dad was still leader. When I accepted being Seth's mate, and he became leader, I'd become his lead mare. I was nervous about that.
Eventually, Seth and I fell asleep against an old willow with my head on his chest and his arms around me. It was peaceful.
In the afternoon we went back to his, no, our home.
