The One That Got Away

"Of course, I was breaking."

It was another pleasant morning for the Grace Field orphans. All were up and ready for the morning day, doing the same old routine. Rooms are now filled with sunshine once more with kids buzzing around getting ready for breakfast. The ones who wake up early usually wakes up everyone with them as well, and this is where Emma comes in.

She woke up prim and proper and ready to wake her siblings' slumber. She finished the other one on the left side and here she goes to the other side. She pranced happily in every hallway waking her siblings, room to room until she reached the end of the hall.

"Okay, let's see...Dominic, Anna, Rossi, Alicia, and-"

She paused noticing that one was missing from her roll call. She checked the room once more to see one particular bed in the corner with nothing but a neat arrangement of pillows and a blanket. She approached the bed narrowing her eyes to check some of those 'certain' details, the bed sheets' wrinkled surface.

Hm...What if...Is she...? Nah- Or maybe?

"42094 woke up before me...What a surprise! Welp, next room!" she chimed leaving the silent room.

Breakfast was held with Isabella at the end of the table. All said their thank you's and ate to their satisfaction. Unfortunately, Emma was not satisfied at all, she is indeed thankful for the food, something or someone was missing in those wooden chairs. She checked off every kid that's in the house but currently, someone was obviously missing.

Hm, one chair is missing...

"Hey, sorry to interrupt but have you seen 42094? I thought she woke up before me so I expected her to be here too," whispered Emma beside Gilda.

"Yeah, that's the thing, I checked on her at their room and I came to see the bed looking really neat but I haven't seen her around." she whispered back.

"Care to share, girls?"

They both flinched at the sudden interruption and trailed their eyes to see Isabella smiling in a good way or a bad way. The mother stood up, setting her posture with poise.

"We were just wondering where 42094 is. She did not join with us in the table so what could have possibly happened?"

Actually, judging by the tone Emma gave off, it was sarcastic. She, in fact, knew everything that is to know. She knew the terrifying truth behind the orphanage, she knew their purpose, but most importantly she knew what happened to her sister. Every bean was spilled by Norman and Ray the other night, they have a plan in a queue and all that needs to be done is to wait for the perfect time. She stared at those violet orbs, knowing how much cruelty it hid from the innocent children falling into her arms.

"It was unexpected. Her foster family came to get her at night but I was worried since every one of you is asleep so I had no choice but to set her free,"

"Emma! Did you hear that? She's with her foster family now... I bet she's having fun now..."

Set her free, huh?

-

"Ray, I get that you're doing this for us but do this for you too! Think about us! We need you by our side. This suicide plan of yours is rotting your mind."
