If Saturday's practice was anything like the car ride home Friday, it was going to be excruciating for Ashton.

Not only was he made to sit in the back of the car like a small child, but he was also forced to listen to horrid music and, if his ears could cry, they would be on the floor bawling. It wasn't even bubbly pop songs like Katy Perry or One Direction. It was rap songs that used way too many curse words to make sense and talked about fucking girls and getting money and smoking dope shit, all things Ashton had no knowledge of. Being the open and accepting person he is, though, Ashton tried desperately to enjoy this music for Luke-who seemed to be hating it himself but wouldn't change the music-but he could not bring himself to like it. He so wished he would have brought his headphones that day.

The two boys rode in silence the entire way to Ashton's house. The only time they spoke was when Ashton tried to convince Luke to drop him off at the front of the neighbourhood. It went like this:

Ashton: "You can drop me off by the sign and I can walk."

Luke: "That's stupid. I already came all this way, might as well ride out the whole trip."

Ashton: "But I don't want to burden you and my house isn't..."

Luke: "Shut up. I don't really care what you want so just let me drive you. Which one is it?"

Ashton: "Last on the left. White windows, a little dirty on the outside, chipped porch."

Luke: "It's not bad. Nothing to be embarrassed about you idiot."

And that was the last words spoken between them before Luke waved Ashton out of the car and drove off. Ashton was left standing in his driveway processing the fact that Luke Hemmings just, somewhat, comforted him. Shaking his head and dismissing it as nothing, Ashton walked back into his house.

That's when he realised that he needed Luke's number for tomorrow and frantically called his mother.

Ashton woke up to his phone buzzing wildly on his nightstand. He picked it up and placed it to his ear, mumbling a groggy 'hello'.

"Hey? Is this Ashton Irwin?" A deep voice spoke from the other line.

"It is." Ashton answered, rubbing his eyes and sitting up.

"Why the hell aren't you up already? It's like eleven thirty." The person spat at him.

Ashton held back the phone, giving it a quizzical look and looking at the random number that appeared on the screen.

He placed it back to his ear again, "Um, who is this?"

The person scoffed and groan in annoyance. "It's Luke, you idiot, we have practice today."

"Oh. Oh! Yeah we do-wait, wait how do you have my number?" He asked as he swung himself out of bed.

"Your mom gave me it." Luke said as if that was obvious.

"Yeah, okay then. Makes sense." Ashton replied and rolled his eyes.

"So?" Luke asked.

"So what?" He asked back, running down stairs to grab something to eat.

"So where are we doing this?!" Luke yelled at him and Ashton had to hold the phone from his ear.

Ashton sighed , pinching the bridge of his nose, then took in a deep breath before he answered. "I have little siblings so if that bothers you then we can do it at your house. Anything else?"

"My house is fine. My parents are at work and my brothers all moved out so we can be alone. And when are you coming over?" He said to Ashton.

"Um give me thirty. By the way..." Ashton trailed off, a bit embarrassed he had to ask this question.

"Yes?" Luke questioned.

"Would you mind coming to pick me up?" Ashton shut his eyes tight and waited for his response.

"What? Why?!" Luke said irritatedly.

Ashton sighed and hated his reason, "Because we only have one car and I don't want to have to make my mom pile all of us in the car just so she can try and navigate her way through Sydney on her day off. Please."

"Oh, okay. That's fine." Luke said, with a tinge of sympathy laced in his voice. "I'll be there in thirty and you'd better be ready."

"I will! Promise. Thank you so much!" Ashton gushed with joy as he ran to his room to get ready.

"Whatever. Just hurry up and text me when you're done." He sighed.

"I thought I had to be ready in thirty minutes with no exceptions?" Ashton asked with a smirk.

"Shut up." Was all Luke said before the line went dead.

Ashton ran upstairs and dressed in appropriate attire for going to someone's house- well, at least what his mother thought he needed to wear so he didn't look like a "rag muffin". Then he informed his mother that he would text her when he was coming home and should be back to help with dinner. To which she just waved him off and told him to have fun. Although he doubted that was possible with the fact that he was meant to spend a rather long amount of time with Luke today. Then he texted Luke and gave Harry a hug good bye and tried to say bye to Lauren but ended up being yelled at.

He waited outside on his porch, sitting down on the old wooden bench that his father had built for them as a kid. Four years before he left them and this rotting old house to go off with some barely legal women in desperate need to grasp onto some nostalgia of being young and not tied to anything.

Ashton waited about fifteen minutes before the same car that had taken him home yesterday pulled up in his drive way again today. He made his way to the black vehicle and went to open the back door but Luke stopped him.

"You can seat up front. Don't get anything on my car otherwise I'll fuck you up, Irwin." He informed and Ashton thanked him graciously as he sat in the seat.

The car ride was more bearable than the last. This time it was only pop music that played from the stereo, meaning Luke had also gotten tired of listening to the mediocre music that had been sounding though out the car yesterday. Ashton was very glad for that. Both boys even sang- although very quiet so that the only reason Ashton knew Luke was singing along too was the fact that his lips were moving along with the words- Fall Out Boy's Alone Together.

They arrived about fifteen minutes later to Luke's house. A respectable two story house painted a creamy white with a bright red door that had a knocking handle, five sets of windows, and a garage that opened as Luke pressed a button on a little remote he dug from the console.

"Nice house," Ashton commented with da small smile.

"Thanks." Luke muttered as they pulled into the garage.

Both boys got out and shuffled into the house to begin practicing.
