Sonic's POV

I said my goodbyes to my friends as they departed.  I walked inside my house and noticed it was late. I sat on the couch and turned the tv on.

I flipped through the channels not finding anything good on and turned to a random channel. When I put the remote down my chao, Dash, flew into the room and stopped in front of my face.

"Hey big guy! Whatcha been up to?" I petted Dash as he sat on my lap.

"Chao!" Dash said happily.

I yawned and turned the tv off.

"Well, Dash, let's get some sleep," I held Dash and I went to my room.

No matter how much I tried I couldn't stop thinking about Shadow and having dreams about him.

~Next Day~

I woke up and stretched. I got up and sat on the edge of the bed. I still couldn't stop thinking about Shadow ever since I left him yesterday.

I felt sorta attached to him somehow, yet couldn't quite rid the thought. I got up and brushed my quills, fed Dash, and went for a run to clear my head.

The way he looked at me was wierd. He looked kinda like he wanted me to stay or something. And that look on his face when I was leaving seemed sad. And he didn't really try to fight me very well either.

My thoughts were interrupted by a high-pitched squeal. I hadn't even ran yet. I was thinking and didn't even notice. Just stood there in front of my house on the sidewalk.

"SONNIKKUUU!!"

Damn, I thought as I ran away from my house and to the woods.

"Come back here, Sonic," Amy said chasing me.

I ran out the woods and took a break at the end of it.

"Aww! Hmph," Amy said and walked away not finding me.

"Good she's gone," I said as I looked at where I stopped.

"Hmm Shadow's house huh," I walked closer to see if he was home.

I knocked on the door and waited for what felt like an eternity when the door opened.

"What do you want, faker?" Shadow asked leaning on the doorframe.

"Hey, Shads! I was just wondering if you'd want to race?" I asked smiling.

"Hmm yeah! I'm up to that," Shadow put his shoes on and closed the door.

"So where at?" He looked at me, arms crossed.

"That tree to the end of the forest," I pointed the direction and got ready.

"Alright, faker," Shadow bent down and got ready as well, "prepare to lose."

"In your dreams, faker," I looked at Shadow with determination in my eyes.

"3," Shadow started.

"2," I continued.

"1," Shadow said, ready to dash.

"GO!" We both said and took off.

We were tied almost immediately. "So, faker, you ready to lose?" Shadow smirked at me.

I looked at him and grin. "Heh, you think you're gonna win? That won't happen 'cause I'm the fastest thing alive!" I yelled when I almost hit a tree and avoided it. I looked at Shadow embarrassed when he laughed at me. "S-shut up!"

"B-but why, faker?" Shadow struggled to contain his laughter.

"'Cause it wasn't that funny!" Then as if by coincidence I tripped over a stick coming out of the ground and fell.

Shadow stopped and snickered. "Get up, faker," he said and stopped laughing when I was silent.

"Faker get up," he was starting to be concerned. He bent down to me.

"Come on don't mess around." I still layed there unmoving. He made sure I was breathing and flipped me over.

He breathed a sigh of relief as I was only unconscious. He smiled and picked me up gently, cradling me in his arms.

He should rest from his stress all week. Fighting Eggman and saving people, no wonder he fell asleep, Shadow thought as he carried me to his house.
