1st Place - "S . O . U . L . S" by Dewywrites
———————
The E C H O E S scream in my mind, creating fractured images and blurring the edges of my carefully constructed reality
The S O U L S they whisper, ghosts of what I used to be before I was
B R O K E N
And they won't stop reminders of what I would've, could've, should've been
Remember
R E M E M B E R
Remember that you are
S H A T T E R E D. Remember you are
S O I L E D you are a broken echo of who you were.
worthless
Worthless
W O R T H L E S S
And for a moment
I think
The E C H O E S
Are
R I G H T
——————-
I am a shattered person
I am a broken girl
I am seeped in blackened memories
I am stardust
I am moonbeams
I am the million voices that
S C R E A M E D I was worthless
B U T
I
Am not

2nd Place - PreciousNinja
I need to hear
someone
calling back to me
Beyond these shattered walls
and the gnarled aspen tree
I bet the echo's waning voice
is my distant fantasy.
Fading out without a sound
beneath the apple trees.
3rd Place - "Echoes of My Memories" by b_rogue
The shadows of my past come rushing back.
I've forgotten who I used to be
Before my life suddenly flashed before me.
I take a moment to relish in this delight.
Behind my closed eyes,
All I see is a younger me.
Singing to myself
In the yard of my school.
The sound of my sisters' laughter fill my ears.
They're bouncing off the walls
As I play with them.
The sounds are crystal clear.
I smell my dad's cooking
As he makes his greatest creations.
A special cake for my mother,
And the many dishes he's made before.
The cool water if my town's closed pool
Submerge my body as I sink.
I used to be a little fish,
Racing into the ends of my summer days.
The smell of my family's homeland
Bring a smile to my face.
String Hoppers and Curry from Sri Lanka,
And Mole and Picadillo from Mexico.
When I open my eyes,
The memories stop coming
Like water being shut off from the faucet.
To go back to this time is my greatest dream.
