And yet, another worm hole.

Mila is standing by her locker, staring at it intently.  Nothing is in it, though.  I forgot it was near her, but so far, she hasn’t noticed me.  Do I keep walking?  I’m tempted to.  I start to keep my head down and quiet my walk, slowing to a tip-toe.  My shoes squeak just as I pass, and her head turns from the corner of my eye. I hear a mumble, but I can’t hear what is being uttered by whoever was in my aural conscious.

I hear a grunt, and I peek at Mila, who in my stupefaction is staring right back at me with her gloomy, chestnut eyes.

“Zoie.”  I stop, when realizing she was trying to talk to me this whole time.  I almost feel like I should ignore her.  To not even respond might mean that she can’t get mad at me.  What would happen if I did brush her off my shoulder?  What if she’s just calling for my attention because she wants to scream at me for...intervening with her business?

Before I can even think about the possible conclusions, I feel a small hand on my shoulder.  It forces me to veer towards her locker.  Everything around me is blurred.  All I can see is a girl with chestnut eyes, but brimming with clouds and tears.  Long lashes, but glistening with water droplets.  Full lips, but quivering nonstop.  Delicate hands, but shaking violently.  A beautiful girl….

A dark life.

“Do you want to go to the library? You know, to study?  We have a test in history next week,”  she obtests, gripping her history textbook tighter.  Her fingers almost turned white and knuckles beet red.

“But we haven’t even starting the section yet…” I shrug uncomfortably, drawing my eyebrows together.  She internally pleads, but the desire for me to join her lessens as the seconds tick by.  She sighs, softly closing her locker, her grip loosening but shoulders still ridged.

“Whatever.”  She passes me quickly and with each pace I can sense her disposition emerging lower and lower.

I stare at her hunched back with a perplexed mind.  I still don’t understand what was happening.

“Pss.  You.”  I hear a lower voice behind me, and I look down to my right to see the same boy on the bus that had insulted me.  The one with the angry, grey eyes.  “Don’t you understand what she was doing?”  I narrow my eyes at him, pointing a finger at his stupid, conceited air that surrounded him.

“Look, like you would know anything, ok?  Just shut-”

“She’s trying to talk to you!  Why don’t you realize that she just can’t say the actual words?  Or are YOU too stupid to realize it?”  Looking at me with his arms crossed and chest out, he stares at me with a cocky grin.  His stupid eyes are holding the gaze of mine.

Something clicks in my head.  You know, the little light bulb that blinks over the cartoons when they realize they were just dumb for a couple minutes?  Well, the little lightbulb told me something too.  I have been an idiot to humanity for about the past 10 minutes.  The result to the imbecility?
