Streaks of sunlight penetrate through the the forest trees and momentarily blind my fluttering eyes. I groaned at the sudden radiance that hit my face, as my skin let out a blinding glow.

I got up from the ground dusting my hair as a figure caught my eye. To my astonishment, I saw Maddy lying on the ground in a torpid state. My surroundings had a different air to it, I felt uneasy and slightly thirsty when the wind changed. I ignored my thirst for a second, rapidly moving near Maddy and trying to awaken her.

"Maddy... Madds get up" I said patting her face. Despite the gesture, she didn't move and remained stoic on the ground.

"Maddy please wake up" I said shaking her roughly. The sides of my head hurt for some reason as I struggled to make sense of our situation. Where were we?

Growing annoyed(and slightly worried), I sped to my bag and grabbed a bottle of water which I splashed on her face to snap her out of her unconscious state.

She shot up with a gasp and looked frantically around until her gaze landed on me.

"Seriously?" she asked me scowling at her now wet shirt.

"You passed out." I responded with an eye roll.

"Can vampires do that?" She asked me confused.

"Well apparently, they can." I shrugged.

"What happened? Where are we?" She questioned, getting up and staring at our bags on the ground.

"We were going on a road trip and we stopped for a break. The rest is fuzzy." I explained  scratching my head and pulling out leaves.

"Yeah I remember" Maddy said running her hands in her hair.

"How did we pass out?" Maddy interrogated again.

"I-I honestly don't know" I stuttered panicking. The cause of us collapsing could be anything - a newborn army, a psychotic vampire, James...

"Everything looks weird." I said, looking around suspiciously.

"Let's go back to the car, I'm getting the creeps from this place." Maddy said picking her belongings up from the ground.

"Let's go." I replied giving my consent to her decision.

We started walking in the direction of the main road where we had left our car. Maddy was leading as she seemed to be sure of where we were going unlike me. I eyed the grass and plants mysteriously - they looked too... green. I was too busy watching my surroundings to notice Maddy stop in her tracks until I bumped into her.

"The heck Madds, why did you stop?" I asked, shoving her lightly.

"The road was supposed to be here. But it's not." Maddy frowned. "We have been walking for so long and it's not ending."

"Maddy I guess you forgot the path. We should change our way and try and look for the road." I suggested. Maddy nodded, jumping on a tall tree to see how far the road is. "Holy shit!"

"What's wrong!" I asked worried.

"Trees." Maddy said. "There are trees everywhere. There were never trees everywhere! Where the heck are we?"
