Life changes with time.
I don't know where I am, where I am heading or what is going on outside - but I do know that the whole world is going to be effected if anyone finds out about my power: especially the Volturi.
They would obviously make me join their ranks and exploit my ability to its full extent. Not to mention the endless amount of loopholes I would create in the space-time continuum that could affect the world completely.
When Joel Volturi had asked us how we had reached here, we had no answer. The Volturi knew we came from the future and they wanted to know all about it.
Of course, let's all ignore the impending doom and unleash the butterfly effect on full force by telling them all about the future.
Maddy and I just kept exchanging glances pushing each other to come up with some kind of excuse.
"Speak up." Joel growled angrily. His eyes snapped from Maddy's to mine, but the moment our eyes met, his anger vanished. As his crimson orbs gazed into mine, he looked like the most beautiful person I had ever seen. His eyes glittered with a mischievous glint and I was completely lost in his charming appearance. For a second, I felt a connection - a sort of bond, that was immediately extinguished when his features twisted into a glare before he turned away.
"It seems to me that you require a lesson on how to do as you are told." Felix stated, walking towards us.
"Try me bitch." Maddy snarled taking a threatening step forward. Her eyes narrowed as he fell to his knees in pain.
"Enough. Aro shall decide your fate." Joel said stopping Felix from lunging at Maddy.
"We are not going anywhere with you losers!" Maddy spoke, standing in front of me protectively.
"I don't care what time period this is and what rules are followed here, but you have absolutely no right to force us into anything. Take a step forward and I will take away your ability to have children." Maddy screamt arguing with the guards.
I groaned lightly - Maddy and her loud mouth.
She better not get us into trouble.
Demetri and Felix were staring at her furiously and arguing back and forth with her like children. My eyes had fallen on the last guard who remained the most quiet, and had his eyes trained on me. The morals I had learned about staring were thrown out of the window as I shamelessly checked him out. Though his clothes were old fashioned, he looked amazing in them. His cloak was thrown loosely around his shoulders, his hair in tassels.
He was hot.
I had to practically tear my gaze away from him to focus at the matter in hand, my - physically sixteen and mentally five years old - best friend who was on the verge of getting the both of us brutally killed.
"We'll come with you" I blurted without thinking twice. It was as if my mouth had worked on its own accord, not in sync with my mind.
"Hey!" Maddy pouted, looking at me with a chagrin expression. I took her hand in mine and squeezed it lightly for reassurance. Since I slipped up, I might as well stick to it.
"We will" I confirmed.
I looked at each of them, my attention lingering on the last member a little longer. He looked at me with a knowing smirk that had a slight malicious tint to it - almost as if he knew that I would agree.
I looked at Maddy and flashed her a smile and she nodded at me as if to say - I trust you.
Let's just hope the decision I made is if not the right one, the least dangerous one.
