"You pathetic little maggots." Usopp's voice was merely a quiet murmur as he turned and flared his wooden sword to the open sea. He stood on the deck of the small-framed Going-Merry, a custom-made ship for him and his crewmates. "You dare attack the fleet of pirates commanded by The Captain Usopp on the floating Merry?!" He ran forward and leapt down onto the deck of the Going Merry.
"Attack them! Show no mercy!" He commanded, waving his "sword" around aimlessly. Usopp blinked after a moment of silence and looked around to his two other crew members, Nami and Zoro, who watched with unamused expressions.
Usopp sighed in defeat. "Geesh, I really expected you guys to be a little more lively than this."
"I finished!" Luffy exclaimed from the flooring of the deck, causing Usopp to jump in surprise and glance back at his captain who held up a small-painted flag in pride.
"Look, it's our pirate mark! Now that Usopp's joined, we've got four people. That's almost a whole crew! I think it's about time we got our own flag."Luffy grinned as he presented the flag. It was a sloppy white skull in the center, accented by nothing but random paint splatters.
"Ugh, Luffy. Is that really gonna be our mark?" Zoro asked uneasily, staring down at the lazily-painted lines of the skull.
Luffy chuckled innocently. "Pretty nice isn't it?"
"Our mark should be scary...it should strike fear into our enemy's heart." Zoro replied solemnly, crossing his arms.
"If our enemies were terrified infants then this would be perfect." Nami agreed half-heartedly.
Usopp clicked his tongue and shook his finger. "You guys should have really told me this. Maybe you guys didn't know this about me, but I am an artist."
"Does that mean you can draw?" Luffy asked.
"When it comes to painting I'm in a league of my own! I've been drawing graffiti for fifty years straight!" Usopp respondes before sitting down beside Luffy and tossing his flag aside, gathering his paints and brushes.
"Woah." Luffy whispered.
"Fifty years? That would mean he'd be old man by now..." Zoro mumbled, Nami scoffing from beside him.
"Yeah, with five or six grandchildren and I don't see any." Nami murmured in agreement, crossing her arms.
Usopp quickly began to work; skillfully stroking the flag until he was satisfied with his piece.
"Behold! My priceless work of pirate art!" Usopp announced, presenting the painted-flag with a skeleton that resembled himself.
"Looks a lot like you on that flag." Luffy huffed as him and Zoro smacked Usopp's head.
"So, how do you like this one?" He asked after repainting for a few minutes. He held up the flag, a skull with a straw hat painted on the cranium.
"Wow!" Nami whispered in awe, impressed with the outcome. "That's actually pretty good Usopp."
"Yeah, keep it! That's the one." Luffy beamed excitedly, pleased with his jolly roger.
"So we finally settled on it? This is going to be our mark?" Zoro asked.
"Sure is. Hey Usopp, draw one on the sail too!" Luffy instructed.
"Right." He nodded, retreating up the post to retrieve the blank flag.
"Okay. It's all done!" Luffy yelled as Usopp slid down the post after the flag had been painted. "The Ever Going Merry has everything she possibly needs!"
