One eye flickers open, followed by the other. I groan and rub the sore spot on my head. I must've gotten a pretty bad concussion.

I survey my surroundings. A claustrophobic box of metal.

Wait, what?

How on earth did I get here?! The last thing I remembered was ... Lily and Cherry ... A promise ... Mikey came home... Frank...

And now this. I don't know how I got here and I don't see how I could have!

No, hold on. I remember... Something... Ah, the pain! Thinking hurts my head. But I've got to remember...

There was... A blue light... Ah, and... Loud noises. It's so quiet now. Yelling and shouting... And bright lights. I had my sunnys. Where'd they get to anyway? Oh well, I won't be needing them in this lighting.

My leg has gone dead. Fallen asleep, numb. Can't move it. I need to get out of here. If I could just push this grate...

There. My leg's woken up again. Now it can be of much better use to me. I'll put my back against the side that appears to be bolted into the floor, and push my feet up on the metal gate keeping me in this place.

Maybe a look outside will jog my mind.

***

It took about an hours work and all my energy, but I've finally managed to push away the scraps of metal.

Here goes nothing. Be prepared for information overload...

I slowly pull myself out to see... Another claustrophobic area, not much bigger than my own.

This whole place must have collapsed, leaving hundreds of these all over the place.

Looking round, I've decided left looks like a good way to go. The space is larger, and there's a small opening at the end, which is gonna make it a whole lot easier for me to start on a tunnel.

I know my survival chances are basically 0:1, but I'm going out trying.

Ah! That seems to have triggered another memory. Oh maaan, my head hurts! Something about... Going out with a bang... Dying?

Did I somehow survive a freak accident?

This box; it looks familiar. Like a huge rubric cube, missing half the pieces. Buttons... A control board?

ARGH! Must've hit something big... Head hurts like hell.

Hell... Maybe that's where I am...

The pains unbearable. Can't.. Withstand... Mustn't... Be hell... I don't think... You can sleep there...

I support my head, laying it on the ground before I collapse again.

Not a moment too soon.

***

I feel myself coming to, but don't open my eyes. I'll just lay here and hope the excruciating pain goes away.

Gah, my leg! Opening my eyes i examine it, and boy is it ugly! Some large metal shard has skewered it, stabbing into the muscle and narrowly missing the bone.

Looking up, I noticed the huge metal shrapnel above me. It had only been a freak accident that I had survived.

Wait, accident I survived? Why had that come to mind... Unless someone was trying to kill me...

Yet I can't remember. I don't remember what had been happening, let alone my name.

Slowly I begin to drag myself and my leg over to the small opening and pulling away at the pieces covering my escape route.

On the other side was... Another... Crud, my heads spinning. Losing... Consciousness...

***

THUNK

Something hard landed on my head, and my eyes sprung open.

"WHAT THE HELL!" I yelled. Completely freaking out, I shot up, and whatever it was landed on the ground with another sickening THUNK.

Looking closely I saw it was a head. I could feel the blood draining from my face, and my eyes widen.

Fortunately, it wasn't a severed head. The body is still attached, and it was hanging out the hole I had passed out in front of not so long ago.

Or was it longer than it thought? I have no idea, but now I'm feeling more alert than I had been.

The body's shredded shirt was black, and his tattooed arm was badly cut. Hold on... Tattooed arm...

Slowly I rolled the man over. My suspicions were right; before me was deamau5.

***

I woke up resting on a shard which was supporting my head.

I tried to sit up, but pain shot through my body so I gave up and lay back down.

"You're gonna need a whole lot more rest." A man says.

His long black hair hangs limply in front if his extremely pale face. His eyes were red, and traces of black eye makeup were left. His black leather jacket was torn, and his shirt was missing. A sheepish grin was dominating his face.

"Hey, sorry bout your head, man." He said, rubbing his own.

A hand went to my head and I gently touched the large egg that was forming.

"You passed out and... Landed on me." He smiled gingerly, pointing to the lump in between his eyes.

"My leg..." Looking down I saw the shrapnel had been removed, and black material was wound righty around the wound. So that's where his shirt went.

"Yeah, it looked pretty bad. Don't worry, I cleaned it as best as I could. All you need now is rest."

"And to get the hell outta here," I mumbled.

The man nodded feebly, bottom lip trembling ever so slightly.

"Thanks, uh?"

"...Gerard."

"Thanks Gerard." I smiled as best as I could, but it was more of a grimace.

"No problem!" He laughed, trying to lighten the mood.

Gently, I rubbed my sore leg. "Where are we?" I asked suddenly, looking up at Gerard.

He rubbed the back of his neck. "I... Don't actually know. I got concussion, I'm guessing I turned out better than you."

I nodded. "Do you remember who I am?"

He shook his head. "The only thing it seems I know about you is your looks. Oh, and something about deadmau5."

"Hold on a moment... That rings a bell..." To my mind came a vague image of a... Was that a mouse? It was red... And... Robotic?

I shifted my weight. "I can't remember my name, let alone what happened, or how we got here."

A frown came to Gerard's face. "You don't know your own name?"

"I don't suppose you do?"

Was again, Gerard had no answers. "I only knew your stage name, deadmau5. It's spelt dead, M-A-U, 5."

I nodded.

Gerard looked around. "Get some rest," he said turning back to me again. "It's gonna be real hard getting out of this mess; you'll need to be in the best possible conditions."

With that he turned away and gave and lay down himself.
