Song of the Day:
Magic Shop

   Seongmin almost made it.

   Almost.

After sneaking onto her floor via elevator from the roof, she'd managed to get about five steps away from her desk before her boss, who of course was on the same floor at the time, noticed her and called her out.

   "Ms. Cho!"

Sighing internally, Seongmin turned and faced her cranky boss.

"Yes, ma'am?" (A/N: I'm sorry I'm American and am really terrible at honorifics and all that kind of thing, so I'm writing based off of the words I know for the time being 🤣)

"You're late again," she said, tapping her foot rapidly. Seongmin had to fight the urge to lip sync her boss's words as she spoke, they'd had this conversation so many times.

   "Reason?"

Seongmin debated telling her what had actually happened. Between Song and his gang, Black Rabbit, her broken alarm clock, and the fact that her entire idea of reality had been flipped on its head, she wasn't so sure how much of the story she believed herself. Why should her boss believe her?

Then again, if it wasn't real, why was she here, now, in her office building? Unless she'd been hallucinating as she ran to her workplace, the story had to be true. Though she still wasn't very hopeful her boss would believe it.

All this ran through her head in about three seconds, as her boss looked sternly at her, waiting. She was still struggling to come up with a logical response to her boss's question, when a figure behind her boss saved her.

"Ma'am? Seongmin was just helping me out. I asked her to take some papers down to Floor 3 for me."

Lee Chihun, Seongmin's best friend from the office, smiled warmly at her, brown eyes twinkling.

"Hmph," their boss grunted. "Did you get those forms looked over?"

"Already done, ma'am." Chihun gestured at his desk, where a stack of papers sat on the corner.

Their boss just huffed again, apparently reluctantly satisfied, turning on her heel and leaving the room. Seongmin sighed in relief.

"Thank you, Chihun," she whispered, looking up at him and smiling after their boss had fully left the room.

"No problem! I know it's bound to happen at this point. I've got a whole drawer full of stories I can give her to cover for you." He winked, showing that he was joking, and Seongmin couldn't help but laugh.

She'd met Chihun her third week in the office, when she'd accidentally run into him coming out of the elevator. Despite that awkward meeting, they'd quickly become friends. He was practically her brother, and the ways he stuck up for her in the office had probably saved her job countless times.

"So, you wanna do something after work?" Chihun's brown eyes shone like melted chocolate, and Seongmin smiled even more.

"Movie at my place tonight? Seven thirty?" She asked. Chihun nodded, ruffling her hair as he went back to his desk. Seongmin smiled and went to her own desk, shuffling through stacks of papers and sighing.

   Another day had begun.

As she shifted through the papers, Seongmin couldn't help but let her thoughts wander to her earlier encounter. A superhero had saved her. What the heck, man? She'd loved her entire life obsessed with fantasies of supers, and now she'd met one, after coming to the realisation that they were just that, a fantasy.
