Headturner

All heads turned towards me, the chit chat in the background went silent and papers stopped flipping, as I abrupt closed my mouth. Uncomfortable quietness sneaked into the room and the flowy, strumming, peaceful music suddenly appeared way too loud and almost unfitting.

I turned around, surprised, wondering what happened, until I slowly understood.

The young woman, who wanted to take my order, was a Capricorn.

The small Capricorn Tattoo was halfway covered by her shirt collar, at least from my perspective and that was probably why I did not recognized it at first glance. Shit.

It was too late. I greeted already...

Every civilist had been tattooed after his birth, on his neck, on the same spot. It was easily to be seen, at least normally, because it was nothing that moved too much, was covered by too much clothing and was pretty close to the face. I mean, it would be pretty awful, if you had to risk comitting a crime by kindly asking an Incompatible "Hey, I was just wondering, are you a Leo?".

My blood rose into my face and I could feel the terrifying stares piercing my skin.

I spoke to an Incompatible.

It's surprising how quickly a room understood and sensed that something was going on, but compared to when someone fell or even when a robbery happened: everyone stood still like time has stopped. Insecure, about what I should do now, I did not dare to walk away or break the silence and ask someone for help. I felt like a deer trapped in the lights of a car, unable to move, overwhelmed and caught.

For a second, but only a second, I was sure, no matter how different incompatible signs were, the way the woman and I looked at each other, was the same.

But then, something else mixed itself into her eyes: A spark of stunned anger, as if I brought her into a mess, that could've been avoided. Almost like an older sibling, glaring at his younger one, because it was scolded too, but obviously with less affection.

Her steps broke the silent, as she went backwards.

Oh girl, you have fucked up. You completely lost the game, you stand out and you just comitted and from all crimes it's the biggest crime you could've chosen from.

My heart beated rapidly, insecure and unknowing what is going to happen now, as I watched the young woman wait, until her colleague brought her a phone out of the kitchen and shoved her into the staff room.
I stayed there, my hand in front of my mouth, surrounded by the freezed guests of the cafe.
