“Aaliyah, wake up!!!!!” Mia shouted as she kept shaking me.
I pulled myself up as I was shocked by the shaking of her. She was about to slap me but I caught her hand.
“Hey! No need to be violent.” I smiled at her.
“I was so worried that you might not wake up. You were screaming. And now you are smiling at me?” she rolled her eyes. “It’s not a nightmare is it? So, is that a wet dream?” she smirked.
“You’re gross….” I glared at her. “It’s a sign.” I then continued and smiled.
“Sign, really? I almost died rushing to wake you up and that’s all a sign?” she rolled her eyes on me.
“You can always talk to me you know.” She held my hand.
“I will, eventually but right now, let me handle this. Thanks anyway. But yeah it’s a sign.” I told her.
“Well, you better get up and get ready. You don’t want your best friend to be late for her first presentation do you?” she said as she stood up and walked out of my room.
I stood up looked at my mirror, smiled to myself then grabbed my towel. How can I not know it? How can I not know that Jake isn’t really for me? Or that this is really not our time yet? How can I be so stupid to have a dream show me how I am hurting myself from being with him?
I thought of the dream I had all throughout my shower. It really is a sign. I have to let go of the things and the people that hurts me or someone that hinders me from being happy. I’m no longer thinking about the ‘What ifs’. I just want free myself from worries. I want to be carefree, back to the same me.
I pulled up my black body hugging dress which is 3 inches above my knee, topped it with a beige coat, and paired with pearl necklace finishing with beige stilettos. I gave myself one last look at the mirror and smiled at what I saw. Me being confident with myself and with what I wear.
I don’t care anymore if Jake would see me wearing this. This is me. This makes me happy and comfortable.
I rushed at the kitchen to eat something before going to work. Mia is already seated, having her cup of coffee and bacon.
“Want some coffee?” She asked. She looked at me from head to foot and vice versa with her jaw dropped.
“What? Don’t like it?” I asked biting my lip.
“I do like it. I’m just not used to it anymore. It’s like it has been a century from the last time I saw you wear something like that.” She said amused.
I sipped on my cup of coffee and just smiled at her. She then put the dishes in the sink as I gathered the things and went to the car’s driver seat. While driving, I can feel the tension that Mia is feeling knowing that this is her first time to present, so I turned the radio to at least make her feel relaxed. Man Who Can’t be Moved by The Script started playing.
‘so if one day you’ll wake up and find that you’re missing me, and you’re heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be, thinking maybe you’ll come back here to the place where we’d meet, and you’ll see me waiting for you on the corner of the street’
I think I have heard it before, not in a song form though. Yes, it’s like how the man in my dreams told me on my most recent dream: ‘Don’t let go. I never left, I’m still here, I am waiting for you, here in our paradise’.
I suddenly stepped on the break. Mia and I were pushed forward by the force of the sudden stop.
“What the hell?” Mia shouted looking at me.
“Oops! Sorry!” I just smiled at her and shrugged my shoulder.
“Seriously Aaliyah, you can talk to me. I don’t want seeing you going crazy about something I don’t know.” She said staring at me. “Do you need any medication?” she continued.
“Hell no!” I laughed at her and started driving again with a wide smile in my face.
“I’m starting to worry about you. First you had a nightmare and you smiled, you dressed like that and now… Oh God, please help my friend” she said as she held her hands together like praying.
We just laughed along the way and arrived at the office 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled presentation. We set up everything and I’m feeling equally nervous as Mia though she will be the one to do the explanations.
“Good job!” Mr. Chan, the new client said as the room boomed with the sound of the applause coming from the big bosses.
We exchanged shake hands and congratulations.
“Good work on the presentation Ms. Montenegro and Ms. Olsen. You both did a great job!” Mr. Roberts said. Smiling at both Mia and I as we thanked him.
“I’m glad that you like the design Mr. Chan.” Mia smiled to Mr. Chan.
“Oh please ladies, your design and layout is the best. Now we are even earlier than the deadline for the printing. And Because of that, I want to give you a 4days 3 nights stay at Villa Luna with some pocket money to show how grateful I and our company is.” He smiled as he is waiting for us to accept the offer.
Mia is already giggling. I can see the excitement in her eyes. I know that I should also agree to the offer, besides, it would be a great timing for me to do my meditation.
“Thank you Mr. Chan, we won’t say no to a great opportunity.” I said as the excitement shows in my eyes.
“That’s great. I will send the itinerary on your emails and will just write a check for both of you. I hope you’ll enjoy the trip.” He gave us one last smile as he went to the other bosses.
“Ahhhhh…… I am so excited. I’ve read about that resort and it has great reviews. Oh I can’t wait!” Mia giggled.
“Me too…” I said.
My phone is ringing so I took it from my bag to see that it’s Jake on the caller ID.
“Hi Princess. I’m on my way to your office now. I want to take you out for dinner.” He said
“Sure, I’ll be at the entrance in five.” I said as I took out a deep breath and hang up the phone.
I grabbed my stuff said my goodbye to everyone, I rushed at the elevator. While waiting, I was already preparing myself from what is expected to happen. I know I have to do it. It’s now or never. As the elevator opened at the ground floor I can already see him on his car, waiving and smiling sweetly to me.
