Carol woke up the next day still not believing she was in London. She spent a few minutes in bed just staring at the ceiling and got her phone to see what time it was and decided to get up, she wouldn't lose time in bed when she had a whole new city to explore. She changed clothes, made her bed and organized her things in the drawers in her room. She didn't know if Harry was up, but she went downstairs anyway. She found Gerard cooking them breakfast and she asked if he needed any help. He thought it was a curious thing to ask because none of the prince's friends or girlfriends asked him if he wanted help, he looked at Carol and politely said he was alright. She sat on the stool and chatted with him, another first for him. He answered politely and quietly. He was looking amused by this new friend of Prince Harry. She was completely different from the people he was used to cook for. Carol was eager to go out and explore, but she didn't know how to get in and out of Kensington Palace, and that was the only thing that kept her inside Harry's apartment. She went to the living room and looked at the pictures on the frames. There were a lot of George and Charlotte's and one of his mom. She had never seen that photo before, although it was from that famous Mario Testino photoshoot. She admired the picture and how carefree she looked on it.
"It's my favorite photo of her", Harry's voice startled her and she turned to look at him. "Good morning."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to...", she started.
"It's alright. You can look at my photos." he simply smirked.
She was embarrassed and not really looking at him. He was already dressed for the day and led the way to the kitchen for breakfast.
"So... where are you taking me today?", Carol asked.
"We're starting at the Abbey. You and your royal watching habits convinced me to take you there. Then we're sightseeing the Parliament, the Big Ben and then, The tower.", he answered.
"What about The Harry...", she started pouting.
"I'm going to take you there in the evening. We're grabbing something to lunch on our way.", he said interrupting her and eating his breakfast.
Soon they were out of the Palace. Harry was driving and Carol was on the passenger seat. He was wearing a cap and sunglasses. He had a scarf around his neck that covered part of his beard. He knew some people would still recognize him, but he couldn't let her down and let her explore the city by herself. It was a risk he was willing to take. Bill was in a car behind them and there weren't many things he could do to disguise himself. During their route he pointed some famous monuments and shared some of his personal memories of those places, Carol laughed about them all. Harry really had wreaked havoc around London in his teens. He parked his car a few blocks away from the Abbey and they walked fast to arrive there because it was starting to rain again.
They entered the church and had their arms linked for a while. Carol was taking pictures with her free hand and was taking it all in. She was actually inside the Abbey where the Queen had been crowned and where William and Kate had married. She closed her eyes and somehow felt that church had something different in it, the smell, the sounds they made while walking and the way the light shone inside. It was a beautiful church and full of importance to Harry's family's history. She teared up a bit and was thankful that she was wearing glasses, she didn't want him making fun of her. They didn't stay much longer there, because a mass was about to start. They left and walked with arms linked to his car, Bill was a bit wary of it, because if any paparazzi recognized Harry, Carol's face would be be over all the tabloids by morning. Thankfully no one noticed the prince walking around the streets. They only drove past the Parliament (it was closed anyway) and decided to skip the long line to ride the London Eye (thankfully because she was afraid of heights). Harry parked his car near the Tower of London and they were given a different entrance to visit the place.
