CHAPTER 3

All his friends thought Jaemin felt off today. They didn't know why. But they didn't dare to ask.
The topic Jeno brought up yesterday, really upset Jaemin. His mind went blank after the word 'parents' came out of Jeno's mouth. He hated it when someone brought up something that had to deal with his parents. Jaemin knows Jeno really didn't mean to hurt him. He thought about apologizing to Jeno if he'd ever meet him again.
Jeno on the other hand was confused. After the unknown boy left him on the roof, he noticed himself questioning things. He never really cared about other people except his close friends and his girlfriend, but something about the boy made Jeno feel interested to know the latter.
Jeno would be lying if he said the brown hair male wasn't handsome. He really really handsome indeed.
It bothered Jeno when the boy just left without an answer. He really wondered why he dropped out of school and why he suddenly left in a rush when he asked a question about how his parents should've been the ones taking care the business. The unanswered questions really made Jeno space out all day.

"Jeno!" Chenle snapped his fingers in front of Jeno's face.

"Huh? What?" Jeno snapped out of his thoughts.

"You're daydreaming again! What's up with you today? Do you have tea to spill?!"

"No.. I don't."

"Then why are you spacing out every 5 minutes?" Jisung asked.

"If I'm gonna be honest, I don't know." Jeno said.

They were currently at lunch, Jeno resting his chin on his palm, and Chensung trying to get Jeno to spill the tea.

"Tell us already! We know you're ly-"

"Hey Jeno!" Yeji came running towards the 3 boys.

"Hey babe." Jeno smiled and wrapped his arm around Yeji's waist when she sat down next to him.

"Yeji! Jeno has been spacing out all day and he won't tell us why." Jisung stated.

"Oh really now? Jeno why don't you tell us three?" Yeji said.

Jeno didn't reply.

"See! I told you." Jisung flicked Jeno's forehead.

"Ow! What was that for!?" Jeno groaned and rubbed his forehead.

"You're spacing out again." Jisung rolled his eyes.

"Sorry.."

"If you're sorry, tell us why you've been a little off today."

"Fine. It's not some 'scorching hot tea' you've been wanting. It's just, I talked to this boy yesterday. You know how I went to go meet Renjun at that cafe?" Jeno asked and everyone nodded. "By the way, that bitch spilled coffee all over my damn laptop!"

"Really!? Was it on accident or on purpose?" Yeji asked.

"It was on accident but I was so fucking mad. Still am. I just got that a few weeks ago too. Anyways, I don't know why but at around 11 I decided to walk to that same cafe. When I went to go work with Renjun on the project, I noticed a flight of stairs leading up to the top of the building, so I decided to go up there to clear my mind. Like five minutes later, all I hear is that boy asking why I was up there. I didn't answer him but then he got mad. He somehow knew my name cuz he was like 'jENo?"

"Wait does he go to this college?" Chenle asked.

"No, he told me he dropped out of school. Specifically highschool."

"Oh. Then he probably knows your name because a Renjun mentioned you being his partner or something." Chenle said.

"Yea you're right, anyways. He kept asking me why I was on the roof and I kept ignoring him but then I started to get annoyed so I just told him it was because I wanted to clear my mind. And then I told him to leave me alone and he said 'I own this place' and I was really confused why he owned a whole cafe. He's younger than all of us. He's 18."
(Lets pretend they're all 19)

"Whoa really?" Jisung asked.

"Yup. But the weird thing is, I asked him why his parents didn't own the place or something but he avoided the question and just told me goodnight and left in a rush. That's why I was spacing out all day. It really weirded me out. I'm thinking about going back to that place and see if he comes again and asking him about it."

"Y'all is it just me or is this completely weirding you out that the LEE JENO is thinking about someone other than us three and his parents?" Chenle asked.

"Huh why is that weird?" Jeno asked.

"Huh. You're right Chenle. It is weird. He literally doesn't care about anyone except for like 5 people.." Jisung said.

"And the fact that he's been thinking about that boy all day is even weirder." Yeji added.

Chenle and Jisung nodded in unison.

"Well. I don't know what you guys are talking about but okay." Jeno said.

After a while, Yeji spoke.

"Okay, this is what I think. I think he just left because something happened to his parents or he's not in a good place with them. Because why else would be avoid the question and leave in a rush?"

"Yoo.. I think you're right. Maybe he's really sensitive to the topic about his parents." Jisung said.

"Shit I didn't think of that. Yeah I think I'll go back to the rooftop and hope he'll come back and ask about it again." Jeno said.

"Huh. Why can't you just talk to him later today in the cafe?" Chenle asked.

"I don't know.. I guess I just like the thought of it being peaceful and quite while talking privately."

Everyone nodded awkwardly and it became quite, until Chenle ruined the silence.

"I have a question!" Chenle said and raised his hand playfully.

"What?" Jeno said.

"Is that boy cute? I might wanna steal him or something." Chenle smirked.

"What the fuck?" Jisung said and everyone started laughing.

"I'm serious!" Chenle said and he started laughing as well.

The laughter died down and Jeno answered his question.

"Yeah I guess you could say he's cute." Jeno said.

"Oooh! Hey! You should take me there someday so I can see this boy!" Chenle said.

"You're weird but okay. Maybe."

"Yay!" Chenle yelled and everyone started laughing again.
