CHAPTER 6

Jeno lied down on the same spot he did yesterday. Today, if Jaemin was going to come, he was gonna ignore him because he really had a bad day. He was NOT having it.

[Flashback]

The bell rang and Jeno got up from his seat. There was a sheet of paper lying flat on the ground, and he managed to slip and fall right onto his teachers desk.
Everyone who was still in the room, which was basically everyone except for a few people, stopped chattering and moving. Their attention was all on Jeno. Jeno fell right on the teachers desk, and it flipped over, also causing it to break in pieces. Papers and coffee spilling and flying everywhere. The teacher stood up quickly from his seat in shock. Everyone was silent and Jeno groaned from the pain. He then realized what he had just done. His quickly stood up in fear. He looked at everyone, we was looking right back at him, then he looked down. The desk was in pieces, the whole floor was covered in scattered paper, and to finish it all off, a big splatter of coffee. The students began to whisper and laugh. Jeno felt angry and embarrassed.

"Everyone out! Jeno, you stay." The teacher exclaimed.

Jeno's heart raced, scared for what might happen next. He awkwardly stood there until everyone was gone.

The teacher sighed, "Where do i even start off with.. First of all, I know it was an accident but this is a big problem.. The papers are covered in coffee and my table is broken."

"I-I-I... I'm sorry! Man i cant believe what just happened.. I'm so sorry.." Jeno said.

"It's fine.. It's fine.." The teacher let out a loud sigh, "I'll figure something out, go to the nurse. You're bleeding like crazy. Also get some new clothes, it's a mess.."

Jeno nodded and quickly ran out of the classroom. He was beyond embarrassed. Now everyone is gonna be talking about him slipping and falling, and managing to break the teachers desk, ANNDDD ruin everything.
The rest of the day, people would NOT stop talking about what happened. Even Chenle and Jisung wouldn't stop talking about what happened. Yeh i felt really bad for her boyfriend, and tried cheering him up, but it didn't work out so well. Jeno was so close to blowing up and yelling at everyone to shut the fuck up. It really got on Jeno's nerves. He appreciated Yeji's kindness, but it just didn't help much.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

Now here Jeno was. Laying on his back. A large bandage wrapped around his head because he had hit his head hard on the wooden desk. He also had some bruises and cuts and bandages. He really had smashed his face. Hard. He had to throw away his clothes after the incident because it was stained badly with blood and coffee.
Jeno felt something poke his stomach. He opened his eyes and looked down, then to his side where Jaemin was. Jeno didn't even notice Jaemin coming. He glared at Jaemin and turned over to his side so now his back was facing Jaemin.

"H-Hey..! What's up with you today??" Jaemin asked and shook Jeno.

"Leave. Me. Alone." Jeno said harshly.

"Is Nono in a bad mood today..?" Jaemin pouted playfully.

Jeno didn't respond.

"Ah. I see how it is. I'll tell you a little story. When I was little, my parents would throw me the biggest birthday parties ever! But it was just my mom, dad, and me. They would buy me a big cake with the words "Happy Birthday Jaemin!" and whatever age i was. They would buy me so many presents and set up so many balloons and decorations. During one of my birthdays, my dad gave me a really realistic spider toy that was remote control. We both had planned to scare my mom with it, because she HATED bugs. So i set up the spider somewhere around the kitchen, and hid in a room nearby. My dad was somewhere, with a camera i his hand so he could record it all! When she was walking with the cake in her hands, I took action and controlled my fake spider. Man it was the funniest thing!! She screamed so loud and dropped the cake. But that's not all, she slipped and fell! Her face was smashed right on top of my birthday cake. I will never forget that day." Jaemin started laughing after he spoke.

Jeno listened to the story Jaemin told, and it somehow made him feel better. Jeno even tried his best to keep in his laughter.

"Hey were you even listening!?" Jaemin said after his laughter died down.

Jeno didn't respond again.

"Hmph.." Jaemin huffed and there was silence after that. "My last birthday with any of my family members was last year on August 13, 2018." Jaemin started off.

Jeno noticed the sadness lingering in his voice.

"It was with my dad. My dad only. My mom was long gone. Never to be seen again. Back when i was 14, my mother fell out of love with my father. My father was devastated.. and so was I.. I learned that my mom never really cared that much about me. And my mother stopped loving my dad, a year later after they got married. She left the both of us. I loved my mom so much, but hearing the words 'I never liked you in the first place. I always just went along with it' really hurt me." Jaemin's voice cracked, "Even though my father had depression, he did everything he could to make sure i was happy. I was never really happy, but i know he tried. My dad was everything i had. I loved him to death. More than anything in this world. He worked hard to provide me with care, until one day, everything i had was just gone." Jaemin started bursting out with tears.

Jeno turned back around with concern in his eyes.

"I-I'm s-sorry for c-c-crying l-l-l-like this.." Jaemin hiccuped.

Jeno sat up and turned his whole body toward Jaemin. He didn't know what to do, he was never good at making anyone feel better.. Plus Jaemin is still pretty much a stranger to him.

"Don't be sorry.." Jeno softly said. It was all he could come up with.

Jaemin wiped all the tears off his face and continued, "My dad died 6 months ago from a heart attack. I cant even explain how much pain i was months ago. I'm still in so much pain but i push it away. I know he's always with me.. b-but." Jaemin sniffled as more tears fell, "I still miss him so much, Jeno. That's why i have to take care of this shop.."

"Damn.. I cant believe you've gone through so much Jaemin. I'm sorry.. I thought you were always so bubbly and happy and even annoying, but i didn't know you've been though so much." Jeno frowned.

Jaemin looked up at Jeno. Jeno couldn't tell because it was dark, but he knew Jaemin's eyes were probably red and puffy.

"What happened to you?" Jaemin asked, as if he wasn't JUST crying.

"What do you mean what happened to me? I don't think anything happened to me..? Right now is about you, not me." Jeno asked.

"But what's going on here?" Jaemin asked and poked at Jeno's bandage around his head.

"Oh. Well. Long story short, slipped and fell in front of everyone. Broke the teachers desk with my face and head, papers went flying, spilled his coffee everywhere on the floor and papers, and that's basically it. It was a good day today." Jeno said sarcastically.

"Awh my poor baby, how embarrassing!" Jaemin laughed.

"Stop calling me baby! And just any pet name in general you freak!"

"Hm. Maybe."

"It's not a maybe, it's a must. It's cringy and disgusting."

"That offended me! I just told you like my whole life story and this is how you treat me!?"

"I never asked for you to tell me this."

"Shut up."
