A typical day it was. A warm spring day, Sunday, 1952. 19 year old Rose takes her afternoon walk as usual, but then there he is. Ugh, James Bennett. Rich, fake, cocky.

"Good afternoon Rose, Ms. Williams, might I say you look splendid today"

There he goes again trying to please everyone.

"Good afternoon to you too James, i should get going" i reply

That's how you strike, act uninterested. He hates it, now why on earth do my parents want me to marry a man like him. I walk along but he stops me in my tracks.

"Oh no not yet you don't"

he says with a smirk, he disgusts me.

"How about we go out for lunch, say tomorrow Monday?"

Why does he try? I have no excuses and father would be upset.

"Sure, but why me? I bet you already have so many of the ladies wanting to have their time wasted by you"

I leave him taken back and skip along home.
