Ms. Johnson was particular about tables. The one in the living room was maple, and could seat over twenty people. When she was alone she preferred to eat on the tempered glass of the wicker table in the conservatory, where she could see some of the estate's grounds.

The one Ms. Johnson had just replaced was to accommodate her feet during the time she spent reading on the sofa. This variety apparently retained heat, but was prone to some shaking given the two legs.

She found that in addition to the shakiness, it groaned far more often than the others.
