Angel's Ascension (Book One)

Chapter 5: The Aftermath

As the two fell in between earth and hell, Lucifer shook off Lucy and landed on a platform from beneath. She hit the other side of the platform and felt it crack slightly.

"Shame for such a powerful fallen angel as yourself, you wish to oppose my wishes. Me the lord of all evil?" He spread his arms out wide. "How does one like you have so much boldness, that you'd dare face me!? Perhaps you're just a reckless being who's too defiant for her own good. Whatever the cause, come answer for yourself!"

"Why do I face you?" Lucy asked boldly. "It's not like I'm doing this to get back into the city or anything. You're a terrible father figure and I can't allow you to harm my friends! Even your army is suffering from what you put them through, I-I'm putting an end to you!!"

Lucy planted her feet into the platform, her aura swirled around and lit the dark abyss. Swelling inside her like a whirlwind and making her feel charged with great energy. Lucifer's eyes twitched sporadically, and he began laughing at her.

"What gives you the right to determine what's terrible or not!? If, weeding out my army to dispose of weak links and strengthen their greatness." He snickered to himself and beckoned her to come closer. "Then, I'll rage war against humanity and anyone who stands in my way! Starting with you, Lucy!" 

"Whatever you say, I'll take you on with everything I got!" Lucy pointed at him with her right fist. "My friends are counting on me and this is how I'll repay them. By beating the shit out of you!"

Lucifer shredded his clothes by using an intense spiral of flames and revealed countless souls etched on his body. Lucy was disgusted by this and slowly closed in with her guard up. His tail lunged at her as he lurched towards her, she manifested a sword quickly to counter. The blade caught his tail, but the fire quickly shattered it to pieces. She jumped back making her energy envelop her arms and legs.

"I better keep my guard up around this guy, there's no telling what kind of shit he can do. Suppose now would be a good time to experiment!"

Lucifer flicked his fingers and several fireballs shot out at her. With her energy, she was able to punch and deflect them off into the abyss. Her hand felt hot and the burning sensation she felt was slowly fading. She then kicked off the platform and punched Lucifer right in the ribs. In response, his tail swiftly grabbed her arm and threw her back near a ledge.

"This guy has insane reflexes when it comes to his tail. I'll step it up a notch."

Lucy increased her energy which put more strain on herself and formed sharpened edges on her sword. She bit down on her lip and felt her energy bubble with persistence. Laughing maniacally, Lucifer stretched his arms out at her and his fingers grew into sharp pincers. She parried the fingers as the sharp edges cut deep into his fingers. He retracted his arms quickly while his fingers bled, then he transformed right before her eyes. A snake with several heads on its body soon emerged, each fang coated with a copious amount of venom. Lucy noticed the platform was shrinking in size and circled around him.

Several heads lunged towards her to bite but missed as she jumped on the wall and returned with quick strikes. She cut deeply into the heads, her muscles tensed as she pushed severed the heads and watched as they fell into the abyss. Then, a tail grabbed her by the legs and the snake body bounded her tightly. Lucy struggled to break free from the beast, feeling the grasp increase more and more. Her muscles were spraining sorely and she found it harder to breathe.

"Ugh, I gotta get out of this bind and…"

She closed her eyes and focused intently on the energy. Letting out a low sounding growl, her power surged forth like a turbulent river and her muscles began to flex. Then, she started to free herself from the snake's hold and lunged at its tail. Lucy stabbed it with her sword and watched as it withered and contorted in pain. Lucifer's body recoiled and began shaking again, his new transformation resembled a griffin now.
