A prison. They've taken her to a prison. Lucy was right. She should have ran off when she had a chance. Oh, her parents must be laughing at her from their graves, they always told her that her powers would get her sent to prison one day. Hell, how would they even feel knowing she'll be working for the government like they have?
"I can feel you burning holes in the back of my head, Ellie," Charles comments.
"I'm trying to set you on fire with my mind," she admits.
She had half a mind to toss herself out of that car right now, and stop time as she escapes. Wait, no, she couldn't, Charles somehow had control over time as well. Stupid telepaths.
"And how's that working out for you?" Charles asks with an amused grin and a sparkle in his blue eyes.
"Hasn't manifested yet," she admits. "But it'll happen one day, I pinky swear it."
"You're still petty over that?" Charles laughs with disbelief. "We were children, we didn't have control over our powers yet."
"You broke the connection first," she argues.
"You stopped time first," he exclaims.
"And you say you're not a married couple yet?" Erik comments, and they both quiet, staring at him with accusation.
"For the last time, we aren't married, Erik," Charles says with a glare towards the man sitting beside him.
"Could have fooled me," Erik shrugs.
She glances up at the tall, white structure once more with a frown on her face. It's cold, and doesn't exactly have that warm, inviting feeling she's so used to with her and Lucy's apartment. What more did she expect by something owned by the government?
It isn't a prison, Ellie, Charles invades her thoughts. Just a temporary home as we figure things out with Shaw.
Yeah, about that, she glances over to him, but he doesn't move or acknowledge her presence, his eyes are fixed towards the people approaching them from the building. You still haven't told me who Shaw is exactly.
Shaw is trying to start a war with humanity, he explains. Erik knows what he's capable of, which is why we've been trying to find as many recruits as we can.
And how many have you found so far? She frowns.
Only a few, he admits.
That's why you were asking for my help that day, didn't you?
Yes, but I was in the wrong that day, Charles says. This time, he does glance her way, looking her straight in her eyes, I'm truly sorry about what happened with your parents.
