Since the incident, or "episode" as Caliban liked to call it, she spent the majority of her time avoiding both Logan, and Charles. Caliban is the only one she felt like she could confide in, and often helped him around the bunker. Erik could have a field day with all the metal that's around them. She frowns as memories of the fight echo in her mind. The way he looked before he'd killed her. The way drowning felt. She could still hear Charles's voice pleading with her.
Ellie gets up from the table to have another look around. She didn't have that much to do, and when she wasn't helping Caliban, she got bored quickly. And the silence in her own head didn't help one bit. She's too used to Charles talking with her.
Distraction. She needs a distraction. She takes a deep breath, and exits out of the bunker, wincing as harsh sunlight smack right against her face. She hasn't seen the sun in awhile. Actually, when was the last time she even went outside? She frowns at the thought. She couldn't remember.
She walks further away, and gazes at the wide desert around them. She'd never understand how Caliban wears that long sleeved jacket, and bandana around his mouth in 90, practically 100 degree weather.
Wait.
A door is open. She glances around, and couldn't find anybody. Caliban must still be inside. Then...
She frowns at the dome shaped area. It reminds her of the huge satelite near Charles's home. Ellie walks closer towards it, and pushes the door back. It's someone's room. Logan? Charles, maybe?
The bed is messy. There isn't that much inside, except for a photo on the bedside table. Wait. She inhales sharply as she grabs it, and looks it over. It's Lucy. When did she meet Charles? Hell, when did she even meet Logan?
"Anyone ever tell you not to go looking through people's stuff?" A gruff, harsh voice startles her and she accidentally drops the photo in her hands, wincing as it hits the floor, and hastily bends down to pick it back up. She glances up and sees Logan leaning against the door with his arms folded across his chest, raising his brows at her.
"Sorry, I--" she stammers, "you knew the woman in the photo?"
Logan frowns. She points towards Lucy and his glare softens, "yeah, I might know her. What about it?"
"She's my best friend," she replies softly.
Logan freezes in his tracks and stares at her with wide eyes, "you were her--" he stops himself, "oh, kid, I'm sorry to tell you this, but she died a couple of years ago."
She --
Her breath stops, and catches in her throat as Logan's words echo back mockingly in her head. Lucy was the strongest woman she knew. No. No, there's no way --
"What -- what happened to her?" She swallows thickly.
"What do you think?" Logan asks. He's avoiding her. He doesn't want to talk about it.
