GOTHAM : LOVE AND INSANITY

CHAPTER 2

   I will never forget what happened that night. I was casually walking with my friends, Anna, Tessa and Mia, down the road. As we were approaching the bank, we heard a loud bang that was coming from a black van heading right at us. When the van stopped, some guys got out with clown masks and guns. Then, a man stood up from the vans roof. I saw what I would never expect to see...Jerome Valeska himself . And I have to admit he was pretty handsome for such a psycho. He shouted: " Ladies and gentlemen good evening " , "Welcome to tonight's special event " , he giggled , " Here we have a lot of distraction , violence, agony and of course the most important one ...Laughter ".He looked right at us and said: " what do I spy with my little eye , I see ...a great chance to do our job done and get the hell out of here scot free ". Till this day I don't know if this was true or if it was just my mind travelling into different places at the same time...But.. I felt that he was particularly staring at me ...And that gave me chills down my spine. I wanted so much to run but I felt like my legs had stuck on the ground.

    As the sirens of the GCPD vehicles started to get louder and louder Jerome forcefully ordered his goons to restrain us. And without even noticing it one of the goons grabbed Anna by the shoulders and put her in a choke hold as he was pointing a gun right at her face. Believe me I really wanted to help but I couldn't move a muscle, I was just standing there. When my brain got back into its place, I realized what had happened . I knew that I couldn't do much. But I couldn't help at letting my emotions get the better of me. All the anger of this situation surpassed my logic at the time .And without thinking I said: "Hey ! , you carrot headed creep! Why don't you come and get us yourself! I mean, since you are THAT dangerous, it wouldn't be such a big deal!"

   I know foolish thing to do, right? As I said that, he looked at me with a mischievous smile and replied: "Wow, it seems like you really don't know who I am". He smiled , "I might as well show you". He grabbed his gun and shot one of the goons. I have never seen someone so cold blooded. Afterwards, the GCPD arrived . One of the cops yelled "GCPD, PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE GROUND AND RELEASE THE GIRLS! " I felt relieved for a second but Jerome shouted to the police officers: "Hi ladies, how nice of you to join us! Unfortunately for you party poopers have no place in our party list".

   He started shooting at them maniacally and the street turned into a war zone. Then, he ordered the goons to gag me and my friends and take us to the van. They drove off as fast as they could while some of cops were getting ready to follow the truck. Eventually the Maniax escaped.
