"What the hell?" Lasercorn shouted. "You're just gonna drop that on me with no explanation?"

"Give me a minute!" Mari said, her eyes glistening with tears. She took a breath, and then continued.

"My sister was one of the sweetest people I knew. She hugged me when I was sad, and played with me when I was happy. But one day, I was minding my own business when she came into my room, shouted vile words at me, slapped me, and then ran out of my room and the house."

There were tears streaming down her face.

"I have no idea why, I did nothing, but she just left." She started pacing around the room, but continued.

"I believe it was because of her depression. She had very severe depression, but my parents didn't believe her. They told her to suck it up and deal with it. So I think she just lost it one day."

Lasercorn got up, grabbing the letters and his keys as he started walking towards the door.

"We have to take these to the police." He said, putting his hand on the door nob, letting Mari walk towards him.

He opened the door as Mari grabbed the boxes from him. Lasercorn looked back at Mari, with confusion.

"Uh, can I have those back?" Lasercorn said, pointing to the box of letters.

"Sure. But you aren't taking them to the police." Mari ordered.

"Why?" Lasercorn snapped, swatting at the box, like a little kitten.

"Did you even read the letters?" Mari shouted. She just wanted to appease her dead best friend.

"Um... Yes. I showed you them." Lasercorn said.

"Rhetorical question. Joven asked not to turn them into the police until after we read them. He trusted us to know first." Mari exclaimed, with sadness in her voice.

"And we are going to abide by whatever rules he says in these letters." She told him. She just wanted Joven to be happy in the afterlife, no matter how bad his life was on Earth.

Mari handed Lasercorn the box stubbornly, pulling it back to her a couple times. But in the end, she finally handed it to him.

"Just... Please, please take care of them." Mari whispered to him. She started walking out the door, and Lasercorn went to walk into his room.

About half-way to his room, he heard the door open once more. He spun around on his heel, seeing Mari poke her head through the door.

"And please," She said sympathetically, "Go to sleep." She smiled and then closed the door. As Lasercorn walked to his room, he really realized how much Mari cared.

He walked into his room to see Sabrina and Tyler cuddling on the right side of the bed. They were half covered with blanket, and half out in the open. Lasercorn set the box down on his nightstand, and went to tuck in Tyler and Sabrina. He walked to the side of the bed and covered them with a blanket. He kissed both of their heads, and then jumped into bed with them.

I woke up and almost immediately grabbed my phone. I heard Tyler playing in the living room with some blocks and some hot wheels. My lock screen was a picture of  Tyler eating a banana while playing a video game. Specifically, the "Chicken Game". My home screen was Sabrina holding up Tyler on her shoulders. She's strong, probably stronger than me. I was happy looking at those pictures. I felt happy.

And then I clicked on Instagram.

And all I saw was Joven.

Tears started spilling down my cheeks as I silently sobbed. I took a deep breath and sat up on the bed, looking over at my nightstand. I saw the box, and immediately grabbed my phone again.

Me- Wes, I need you to come over asap

Wes 🍨🍩🍪- Why? I'm on my way.

Me- It's OK. Well, no... No one was hurt... No...

Me- I'll explain to you when u get here

Wes 🍨🍩🍪- OK...? I'll be there in 15 minutes.

Me- ok

I walked to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I grabbed my clothes and threw them on as I combed my hair to make myself look relatively presentable. I was going to get some toast, but I heard a knock at the door.

"Papa!" Tyler screamed, clearly hearing the door.

I walked out to see Tyler hugging the giant, 6'3 man. I giggled, and pulled Tyler off of him.

"Hey Wes." I said, rubbing the back of my neck.

"Hey Dave." He said, smiling at me. His eyes were red and he had huge bags underneath them. I could tell he hadn't slept for what looked like weeks.

"Um... Oh. The thing is in my room." I pointed to it and started to walk, Wes following slowly behind. We dragged ourselves into the room and I grabbed the box. Wes looked at me, confused, as if I had lost my mind.

"This is your emergency?" He asked, pointing to it. "Do you need me to open it or something?"

"No!" I opened the box to show him all the letters. "I need to read all of these. So that I can turn them into the police."

Wes looked at me like a headless chicken. "You really have lost your mind!" He laughed. "I didn't realize his death would do this to you."

I felt the anger bubble inside of me. "Wes. This is really important! These tell us how Joven died!" I screamed.

Wes was shocked. He grabbed the first letter and sucked in all the information. "Holy shit." He said, once he had finished the letter. He grabbed the second one and started reading

"Dear David,"
