~Kate's P.O.V~
He takes the hand towel, wiping his face, silent. I look away from him, sighing out. I look back into the mirror and do my smile, readying myself to go back to normal and push it all down.
Matt coughs, looking over at me, a exhausted look still on his face, "How do you do that?"
"Do what?" I whisper, swiping a piece of hair out of my face.
"Go back to being bright, weird, fun....Back to being... Kate. In the blink of an eye." He stares up at me, the tire in his face clearly showing.
"I'm used to it. There's no point in making everyone sad just because I messed up another part of my life."
"Iconic." He smirks up at me after pausing. I laugh, shaking my head.
"I'm gonna miss that."
"You don't have to!" He stares at me, a hint of a hopeful gleam in his eyes. "That's what I'm trying to tell you Kate."
I scoff, "You obviously don't want me around Matt, so I'm not gonna keep annoying you. We're just acquaintances when we leave this bathroom."
"Kate, STOP." He starts, "You're taking this way out of con-"
The door opens, a grinning Sammy looking between the two of us. He wiggles his eyebrows, "Time's upppp.... That is unless you needed more?"
I shake my head, and let out a fake laugh, winking at him. "What would we need more time for?" I lightly push past him, ignoring Matt whisper under his breath behind me.
I return to the circle, and opt to sit in between Brooke and Mahogany. After the entire "Johnson's Girlfriend" fiasco, I think it's best to keep my distance for a little while.
I lie on my stomach, as Sammy and Matt come back to their original spots in the circle - Matt beside Aaron, and Sammy, well, under Brooke. Brooke leans over to me, whispering, "So what did you do?"
"Um, we talked about why...uh, no. Whether skittles have legs or not. Yeah." I bite my lip, before quickly smiling up at her. She stares at me suspiciously, but thankfully drops it soon, looking back into the circle.
Damn it. I usually have the 'going back to normal' thing down pat. Why the hell did I hesitate? Pull it together, Kate. You've known Matt for all of two days, you shouldn't be this affected. Pretend none of it happened, and you'll be back to 'normal' in no time. Even if it hurts now.
I adjust my attention back to the circle where everyone is taking a quick break to check their phones, updating social media and the like.
"Okay, where were we?" Matt breathes out, locking his phone and looking across the circle. I look down, avoiding his gaze.
"Well while you were gone, Johnson and Mahogany had a twerk-off, Aaron confessed his feelings for taco bell, and I made out with Brooke." Sammy smirks at Matt, taking his arm from around Brooke and fist bumping him.
"You're such a liar!" Brooke furrows her eyebrows, laughing, before lightly slapping Sam's cheek, "That never happened - It was Lex and Gilinsky."
"Oh, then what happened between us was all in my head." He winks at her and she rolls her eyes, shifting on his lap.
"And we didn't make out, we kissed. Chill." Gilinsky says calmly, Lex blushing like crazy beside him.
"Should've been the opposite if you ask me." Mahogany giggles under her breath and Brooke and I burst out laughing. Lex glares at us and I wiggle my eyebrows at her, giggling.
