What's with me and short chapters today...

"What in the world..." Sticking my head around the corner as I found I was right, Edward was here and staring down my father in the doorway. Charming.

"Here you go, fifty explosion, twenty body strengthening in the battel fit elements," I said pushing my cart over not willing to give him one of my spacial bags. Those are very expensive and I have no sympathy for this man.

"And the recipe?" He attemtped as he has for the last few deals.

"Same as always," We held eye contact for a long moment before he raised the bag of gold, extending my hand he dropped it while I smiled, "Pleasure doing business with you,"

"Likewise, when can I be expecting something new?" You greedy little- my brow twitched as I could help but give him a 'really want to try that' look.

"When I make it," more heavy eye contact and a nod later he was pushing the crat out the door and staring at the stairs. Before he could turn around, I closed the door not willing to help him. "Stars, nothing even good enough for them," I huffed opening the bag, lazily skimming the coins.

"Lilith Windsor! What in the stars just happened?!" He shrieked, very professionally, while I glanced at him. A grin pulling at my lips as I flicked him a coin and winked.

"Buy yourself something pretty," Walking away I have no explanation while he screeched behind me. Not words. Just a screech of pure bewilderment. Snickering I headed to the library while I have been quite literally living for the last three days, leaving only once as my mom wanted to look at the festival.

I used that time to spread a little rumor in the slums, most the war refugees now living there. Stretching I paused, seeing my mother look around the library determined. Oh boy. She wanted to dress me up. The common sense of having to deal with whatever frilly thing she wanted me to wear for the competitive festival nonexistent. I feel bad for my cousin. He had to deal with the brunt of her obsession while I was away.

As I hid again the wall, not wanting to catch her attention I caught a glimpse of him pulling himself onto the second floor, jumping off a bookshelf. Clever. Wait. That means the only one down here was- my eyes widened as they darted around looking for a better place to hide I silently darted between the shelves. Knowing he could see me.

What was he going to do? Call out to me? If he did that he'd give himself away and she can't see me from here. But she sure as can see him if she were to look up. Stopping I froze as she passed by me, my breath catching in my throat as I glanced around the corner, her grumbling having gone down a different aisle.

I'd always lose when we were little and up until I left but I'll be damned if I didn't use what I learned to run from the beast that was my mother. Getting to a self that was sturdy enough to climb I carefully pulled myself up it, making sure I didn't knock down any books. His eyes widening as I had never had the strength to climb anything, nor the skill to do it silently.

Pointing to my eyes before his I grinned, opening my mouth to give him away but he was lunging off the rail in a second, jumping back I raised a brow while he landed skillfully in front of me, where I had been standing actually. Okay. Did think he'd go and do that.

'Don't you dare,' He mouthed while a smirk pulled at my lips.

'And what's stopping me?' I silently responded already thinking through escapes he couldn't copy.

'I swear to the stars- Lilith don't you dare' Grinning I turned and leaped right onto a different shelf.

"Oh! Felix! I didn't see you there!" I called with a snicker, his eyes widening as I actually dared to do it. My retreat already in full force while he scrambled to do the same. The bloodhound already picking up our scents.

"Lilith! Wait up, I haven't seen you in forever!" Snickering I twisted my body, dropping right off the top as she raced up the stairs. My hands locking on the shelf for all of a second before my feet found the ground and I was race out of her view. I heard a less graceful thud while I couldn't help but crackle.

Family. Torturing each other since the beginning of time.
