Ian walked into the radio room with Michael slung over his shoulder. "Hey Reginald, your messenger found me. Now, what do you suggest I do with him." The other men in the room laughed. "Well since I need him, I say let him go so I can send his behind out with another message. Ian laughed and set Michael on his feet. Michael giggled and ran over to the operator holding up the message for him then ran out of the room.
Up on the Fourth FloorThe ladies were in awe. Clothes were hanging and draped everywhere over boxes and large hanging rods dangled from hooks in the ceiling with even more clothes on them. There were signs posted on the doors telling what in general was in a room. Tray was standing there sipping a cup of coffee holding up a door jam. "Good morning ladies. I know it looks like a huge mess up here but my boys and I did our poor best. I just wanted to let you know that Ian declared this floor yours to use and organize as you see fit until such time should he need this floor. You decide who does what, where, and how. We poor men just help with the heavy lifting."
"He wants each one of you ladies to pick out at least two weeks' worth of clothes. Some of everything. Work, dressy, casual, and such." He pointed over his shoulder. "The room at the back was already labeled clothes for pregnancy when we got up here. We left it alone for you ladies to explore. He pointed to a small box on the wall. "This is the house intercom. I've got it set for the radio room. If you ladies need anything at all just press the button and you'll be heard and they'll send us up. Okay?" Agnes and a few of the ladies nodded. Tray smiled and stood up. "Now I'll leave you, ladies, to your shopping."
Tray walked through the ladies to wait for the elevator. As he passed Carmel Luster he couldn't resist checking him out. He sipped his coffee and had a hard time swallowing. He was long legged with a fine rear end. Not one of those big booties that looked like they had a shelf on their back, but a smoothly rounded behind he'd love to get his hands on. A sweet face that was devoid of makeup and a smile that ramped up as soon as he noticed Tray checking him out. Tray had been alone for years and now he was a father but there was something about this man that drew him.He took a chance. "I'm Tray Nelson. May I ask what your name is?" Caramel blushed and stuttered. "Ca...Caramel Luster." Tray smiled softly. "I know this is sudden but when you're done shopping would you please have coffee with me?" Caramel started to cry. This handsome man thought she was a woman and was asking her out. He touched his throat at the Adam's apple. "Honey, you don't want this. I'm a..." Tray stared at Caramel's Adam's apple."Un-huh. Which explains my attraction to you."
Caramel laughed sadly. "I'm also..." He cupped his abdomen. "In Larsen... well they..." Tray nodded. "The Sickness made me the instant father of seven teenagers. I'd welcome more children in my life. We could always discuss this in greater detail if you'd say yes to coffee with me. I'll understand if you don't feel up to it but just so you know, I really would like that coffee. I'll even charm Chad out of some sweets for us." Caramel blushed and looked at Heidi who giggled. "Good lord girl you have a handsome man dangling on the hook. If you don't want him the rest of us girls would." "Throw him, my way dearie. " Agnes piped up. Caramel turned to Tray and nodded. "Alright, coffee and sweets it is." Tray smiled as the elevator doors opened and more ladies exited it. He held the door open and stepped in it. "See you then beautiful."
Heidi fanned herself with her hands and giggled. "Daughter mine, I felt the heat off that man all the way over here." Liberty McBride laughed. "We have to find you the perfect outfit to wear!" Caramel turned to her. "You don't mind that I'm a he instead of a she." Liberty shook her head along with all the ladies and girls there. "I never did have any hangups about that stuff. I figure anyone who does can just go stuff themselves. As for the pregnancy," Liberty wrapped her arms around the two girls by her side. "I'm here to shop for my nieces' Courage and Freedom, who are in the same situation as you from those bastards in Larsen."
