Natalie's POV
-Well time is going by fast. It feels as if only yesterday new students came in and we became best friends instantly. It is pretty true to, I did become Nikki's, Ivory's, and Piper's friend as soon as I saw them. I was very lucky to have them as my first best friends, and I still am. I can't believe we only have 2 more weeks until this school year is over. I don't want it to be over yet. Right now, I feel so happy with school. I hope time goes by slow. I wonder if my crew is thinking the same thing as well. I hope they are. Spending time with them is great.
*1 week later; Art Class*
- It is now time for art. I like being creative but I'm just not good at it. Luckily I have my group to help inspire me. They are pretty much the artists. I go ahead and take my seat next to Ivory. We then start listening to our teacher's discussion.
"alright class, you may start now" Ms. Flora says after her discussion. We had to paint a landscape of any view we see. We start to head outside to the playground to try to look at the different sceneries we could capture. After looking, we all take a seat on the empty benches and start painting. I didn't really know what to paint. All I could see was a plain field and different slides and other playground items. I tapped Ivory's shoulder.
She turns to me. "What are you painting," I asked her while looking at her painting which looked nearly done. It was pretty nice even though I didn't really know what it was.
"I'm painting the tree over there, " she says while pointing to it.
It looked so beautiful, yet so simple.
" Wow, it's so simple, "
" well art is pretty simple, you see, not all art is perfect, what makes it simple, is what you draw, but how you draw is a whole different topic to make it beautiful"
Her words were true, coming from a 2nd grader. I had an idea of what I was going to draw. I Would just start simple. It wouldn't matter if my art wasn't perfect, all that matters is the effort I put into it.
"Thanks Ivory, " I say with a smile. she smiles back and continues her painting.
I decided to paint a picture of a plain field and adding us students on the grass. It was plain but it had a meaning to it. I wanted to put the meaning of no one getting left behind. I was actually proud of it, even though the way I painted was not that nice. I mean to me, anyways.
Time was up and we submitted our art to the teacher.
It was now time for our last class, P. E. I don't really like doing sports. It's not my thing, but I'm lucky again, cuz I had Nikki with me. Ivory and Piper had social studies class together. At least we were not alone. As we wait for the teacher at the field, the class just do their own thing. Nikki's and I just sit down and goof around.
"Hey class, today we will have a nice game of kickball, " the teacher says as he holds up a ball.
Some of the boys cheer in excitement, but the rest of the class groan ignorantly. The teacher then explains the game. Again, sports ain't my thing. We all got in line, while 4 students were set as the bases. Luckily, I wasn't chosen as a base, but I still had to kick the ball. I waited in line with Nikki. We didn't know who would be first to kick.
"You can go ahead, "Nikki says.
" No, I'm fine you can go first, "I reply.
" No im serious, " Nikki says with her hand out in front of the empty space.
I didn't want to go first. But, to end this debate, I went ahead and decided to go in front.
" Thanks, " She says with a smile as she hugged me.
" No Problem, " I replied hugging her back.
I was scared. I don't know how to kick a ball. I might as well watch how they kick it. In front of me was June. She was pretty popular but I didn't really care, she was pretty nice. The teacher rolled the ball over to her, and she kicked it so far. She touched all the bases, then she reached home base. The ball was in someone's hand ready to throw it but they were too late. She was good. Everyone cheered and she went to the back of the line in victory. Now I am next. Oh gosh.
"You can do it, " Nikki says behind me with a smile and a nod.
" Here goes nothing, " I say to myself.
The ball rolls over to me, and it gets closer and closer. I finally kick the ball and try my best to get to all the bases. I finally make it. The ball was kicked all the way to the tree. The tree that Ivory painted. It seems that tree was useful. The ball was thrown but it didn't touch me as I finally got to homebase. I guess I was lucky. Everyone cheered and Nikki ran over to me with a hug.
"I told you, you could do it, " she says with victory.
I give her a smile. We then finish the game and it was time to go home. I still feel sad that 2nd grade is ending so soon. I promise myself that I will make the last moments worth it.
