12 | a call

mayumi

it was lunch break, we all 4 decided to eat up in the rooftop instead of down the very noisy canteen. up here in the rooftop, it has always been quiet and peaceful. you could feel the summer breeze touching your skin, see the baby blue sky with flying birds. of course here was the sun as well, bright and shining.

"hello donghyuck." i cooed, the sun reflecting on my dark black eyes.

"mayumi come here and eat, you haven't eaten and you need energy." renjun commanded.

i turned my head around, seeing the three boys sitting on a bench while placing their lunch on the table. renjun waved his hand, gesturing to come and i did obliged.

i jogged my way and sat beside the chinese boy who packed out my lunchbox for me. "here, wow did yuta make this?" renjun smiled once he pulled out a sandwhich. i creased my eyebrows and glanced down at the food. "nah? yuta never makes lunch for me."

"it says here. hello mayumi, this is a special sandwich because your big brother made it. enjoy it, love you! aww how adorable-"

i snatched away the small little paper renjun had, crumbling it and throwing it on the floor. "aha, thank you." i thanked him from unpacking my stuff.

we commenced to eat, this time there was a comfortable silence.

"wow, it's like the old us." jeno snickered a small giggle, jaemin causing to smile. "well i wish we can stay like this." jaemin sighed, smiling weakly which made renjun sigh and smile.

"don't worry, we will continue this and nothing can stop us. i'm sorry for spacing all of you out, just because i'm in a relationship. i promise you all starting from now on, we will be together again." renjun vowed with a small nod, causing all of us to frantically smile and nod, expect jeno, he seemed worried.

"what? hyung what about haneul-"

"i'll talk to her when she comes back." renjun assured jeno, he sighed in relief and gave him a nod.

jaemin's eyebrows puckered together. "what? what about haneul?" jaemin impatiently waited for renjun's respond, tapping his shoe on the floor while there was a long pause.

"she.." renjun paused and felt unsure, shifting gaze on jaemin and jeno. "well, she's practically the reason why we got split up." renjun honestly spoke.

"what? why?" jaemin looked confused.

"she disliked seeing me and mayumi together, she never liked it and i was confused but i rejected to ask why." renjun explained making jaemin grumble something. "so i obliged and i wanted jeno to not leave me alone with her, being with her sometimes just makes me feel empty and unhappy." renjun's words made me so confused, i wagged my eyes and tilted my head.

"why are you still with her then?" i questioned. "i just don't wanna hurt her." answered renjun.

ring ring.

renjun's phone vibrated on the table, the table shook as he immediately answered a call from haneul, before answering he looked up and gave quick looks to us.

"hey injunnie~" i could hear haneul's soft voice. "hey haneul, so what's up? how are you? are you doing great? are you okay?" renjun sounded like a protective boyfriend. "oooh, injunnie is worrying about me? haha, i'm fine renjun what about you? what are you up to?" haneul giggled softly, it made renjun smile a bit but the two boys who we sat forward secretly rolled their eyes.

"um, we have lunch and i'm eating with mayumi, jaemin and jeno." he gave a brief respond.

haneul's voice glitched. "oh- i- mayumi is there too?" she asked and for some reason i was slightly tensed, i don't know why but i was just.

"yeah."

"well say hi to me." she spoke emotionless. "anyway, i'm going now bye injunnie! love you." she said. "bye." renjun smiled, he immediately hung up as we all sat and stared quietly at each other.

jaemin sheepishly chuckled. "no offense but i'm not a fan of her, ever since day one." renjun nodded and didn't seem to be offended.
