Down goes the pale thin eyelids,
Covering over the deep blue seas.
Trying to lift those blurry screens,
Like heavy stones they seem to be.
Try as I might, they don't cease to drop,
Those stubborn things ignoring me.
Why is it I need to sleep,
My mind is awake, but my eyes are beat.
Every second, I open my mouth,
A yawn escapes my pale pink lips.
A perfect sign of my tired self,
But still stubborn me refuses to sleep.
Dad has too drag me to bed,
Oh what a struggle did I make.
But dropping down on the soft white sheets,
Immediately I fell asleep.
Human nature I tried to defy,
To no avail, but I did try.
The blurring figure in front of me,
Kissing me goodnight before I drifted asleep.
Darkness covered my whole sight,
As the silent abyss took over my mind.
Oh why is it humans need to sleep,
I wondered before it could engulf me.
And there I lay, with my eyes shut tight,
Peacefully sleeping, not putting up a fight.
