Chapter twenty three
After the dinner, Jaemin drove Heejin back home, as they pulled up to her drive way, him turning off the ignition and they both sat there.
"Look, I'm sorry if my parents made you uncomfortable" Jaemin said as Heejin shook her head
"It's alright, people are going to ask and I should just get over it, it's been almost 10 years since the divorce" Heejin said as she looked down at her lap
"I understand how you feel, but I should've never put you in that type of situation" Jaemin said
"Thank you for caring" Heejin said with a small smile on her face as Jaemin nodded
"Can I tell you something?" Jaemin said as Heejin nodded her head
"I don't dislike you as much as I did before"
"Ha~ well that's great to know that you hate me less" Heejin chuckled as Jaemin shook his head
"I didn't mean to say it like that, but it's true that you and I didn't get along before but right now, I don't feel the same way I did before" Jaemin said as Heejin raised her eyebrow
"How do you feel now?" Heejin said as Jaemin sighed and looked at her, the look in his eyes changed as if he was building up some courage
"I like you" Heejin stayed quiet, as She stared at him, no expression in her eyes as she blinked them repeatedly
"Jaemin, I-"
"I know you probably don't feel the same, but I just wanted to let you know, so that you don't have to be confused anymore when I decided to chase you"
"C-chase me?" Heejin asked as Jaemin smiled and nodded
His face was suddenly really close to her's as he looked her in the eye and back down at her lips, Heejin freezing in her spot.
The only thing Heejin could do at that moment was scream internally, as her cheeks went red and she shut her eyes.
"You've never reacted like this around me, and I'm not even touching you" Jaemin said lowly as Heejin gulped
Jaemin drew in closer as she felt his soft breathing on her neck
"Just my presence is enough for you to get like this" Jaemin said as he kissed her neck softly, making her bite her lips to hold back a moan
"When a couple of weeks ago, you would've been unfazed by this just to make a point, but now this only confirms one thing" Jaemin said
"And that is?" Heejin said lowly as she put her hands on his chest to stop him from going further
"That you feel the same" He said as Heejin and him lock eyes once again, tension between them was thick and the car was suddenly hot
"Jaemin, lets end this" Heejin said as she looked down at her lap, not wanting to look at him in the eyes anymore
"Goodnight Heejin"
"Jaemin, didn't you hear what I just said?" Heejin said as she looked at him in disbelief, as he smirked and nodded
"I did, I just refuse" Jaemin said as Heejin scoffed and glared at him
"He's really persistent isn't he?!" Heejin thought to herself
"Why do you like me? It's not like I'm special in anyway, and I haven't been the nicest to you, so why? What did I do to change your hate towards me?" Heejin said as Jaemin smiled softly and looked down at his lap
"You did nothing, and that's the weird thing, is that i don't know why my heart races every time you look at me, or why I smile when someone mentions your name, I can't answer your question that easily, but I like you for you" Jaemin said as Heejin just looked at him, not saying anything but just looking at him before nodding and stepping out of the car
"So, how was dinner with his parents?" Myungsoo said as soon as Heejin stepped into the house, him sitting in the living room watching something on Netflix
"Uh~ it went well" Heejin said as she smiled awkwardly, taking off her shoes and was going to speed towards her room until something Catches her eye
"What is this for?" She said as she picked up an invitation off the console table
"mom dropped it off, it's for dad, since I think he thinks he's not invited" Myungsoo said as Heejin froze for a second once she heard her mother was the one dropping it off
"She's back in korea?"
"Yeah, she's having the wedding here after all, but she's going back overseas again after" Myungsoo said as Heejin read the invitation, the wedding taking place within 3 weeks
"A lot Can happen in 3 weeks" She thought to herself as she put the invitation down and getting up the stairs
"You know, she was asking about you" Heejin stopped midway, glancing over at her brother
"And?"
"Heejin, mom really does care for you and she tries to be a better mom, you know how much it hurts her that you haven't even spoken to her in years" Myungsoo said as Heejin chuckled lowly and shook her head
"she knew what would happen if she left. She made her choice and I'm simply making it easier for her" Heejin said as Myungsoo scoffed
"Don't you think she regrets what she did? She loves you, and it's not like she meant for all of this to happen, she still beats herself up everyday, she blames herself for what you did to yourself"
"She up and left her daughter with a father that was and still is barely there, you want me to feel bad? I had to change myself because of the mess she caused, I was driven to the edge and almost killed myself because of her, and I'll never forgive her for making me go that low" Heejin exclaimed as she shoved her brother
"You don't know how it feels to be alone, none of you know, want me to feel bad now?!" She yelled shoving him one more time, him falling to the ground
"Heejin, calm down"
"You'll never know the pain I felt all of those years, and I couldn't even go to my own mother because she wasn't there, I needed her the most and she was not there! So you want me to feel bad for her?!" She said as Myungsoo got up and hugged her as she hit his chest, trying to free herself from his embrace but ultimately started sobbing and her brother just hugged her tightly
"You'll never know how much pain I'm in"
