I wrote down the address and how to get there from the library as she explained. We said our goodbyes and she left. I decided to go out and buy a book. On my way to the book store something had unsettled me about Amelia, I somehow felt happy when I thought of her but, something wasn’t right. I got to the book store and went in. There was a new clerk, he greeted me when I walked in and said his name was Peter. I greeted him back and went to the braille section. I chose an interesting sounding book named “Murder on the Orient Express” by Agatha Christie. I strolled over to the cashier.

“That will be 5 dollars Mr…” Peter said. He had a slight charming New York accent in his voice.

     “Newman, Jeremiah Newman.”

     “Mr. Jeremiah, nice name kid.”

     “Thanks, you too Peter…”

     “Peter Frames.”

     “Nice.”

“How old are you Mr. Jeremiah?”

“I’m 16, how about you Peter?”

“I’m 20 years old. I just came from New York City.”

“Why would you leave a big place like New York City and come to this dusty town?”

“Why not? Besides, I didn’t really like New York City; I wanted to try something new.”

“Of all the places, and you pick Font Valley?”

“My mother lives in the senior citizen center here and she is pretty old so…”

“Well there you go, that’s the answer that makes sense!” I exclaimed hands in the air. There was nobody else in the store and I felt comfortable talking to Peter.

He gave a hearty chuckle. “Look Mr. Jeremiah I need my five bucks.”

“Oh right, here you go.” I took out my wallet and gave him 20 dollars. “Keep the change.”

“Thank you, Mr. Jeremiah I owe you one. I think we will become very good friends you and I.”

Again, I was being friendly and open to Peter but that was because I stopped caring.

You are probably thinking, “Jeremiah where would you get money from if you can’t work because of your ‘condition’.” Well the truth is I don’t need to work. I have over $5000 in savings. You don’t need to know where I got this money from (yet).

Anyways, I walked home and it was about 4:00 pm. I went inside set the book on my shelf and flopped onto my bed. That’s when it hit me. I finally figured out what had unsettled me about Amelia, she was way too nice to me, Peter was nice to me but I had walked up to him with no choice, Amelia came up to ME. There was something else but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. During my contemplation I found myself drifting off to sleep.
