the weight of the world hopped on chaeyoung's body as soon as she had the nerve to wake up. the room was startled and her family gather around her bed, waiting, seeing her eyes slowly opening.

it is truly a miracle, seeing their daughter asleep for so long, even having thoughts of not waking up, and worse-brain dead.

her fingers gently tapped and her body twitched, everybody's attention on her. it took her a minute to finally open her eyes and mrs. park placed her hand on her chest, while the doctor and nurses guided her. with sleepy eyes, chaeyoung's sight is still a blur

. . .

a week later

"take it slow, sweetie. you'll be able to stand up in a month time." the nurse clicked her pen and advised me while my mother asked her for the fifth time when i'll be discharge. "wait, in a month time so... i'll be in a wheelchair?" i asked, she nod. i sighed and my mother sat beside my bed holding my hand.

tucking the strands of my hair, she smiled sweetly. she looked older because of her wrinkles appearing on her forehead and dark circles probably of stress. but that didn't let her beauty get in the way. she was aging beautifully. "just a month had passed and you look more beautiful." i teased her.

her smile slowly faded, caressed my hand. "honey, it's been three years." my world was shaken. three whole damn years. what in the world was happening in those time? w-what have people been doing? and jeongguk—"ma, where's jeongguk?" i asked, a slight raise in my voice.

she pressed her lips together, making hard for her to say. with this gesture i knew it's no good news. "jeongguk... they left korea." my eyes widened upon hearing those words, my body was shaken and didn't knew that i suddenly sat straight. "he left?! when? where did they move? w-why, did he not know i'm in a damn coma?!" my anger got the best of me, only seeing his departure as a painful thing without looking for a reason.

my mother placed her hands on my shoulders pushing me slowly to lie down. my heart is beating rapid fast. "they moved to france." in out of all the countries and continent, they had to move the farthest?

"i know you're angry, honey. but he took care of you right after you got confined. everyday after school never missed a day to see you. he's always here, but he didn't have a choice in moving to france. they were having financial problems here." my face slowly softened as i felt the heat in my eyes as tears streamed down.

my mother stood up and opened the cabinet, rummaging inside until she got a hand of a letter.

"you should read this." and handed me a stack of envelopes tied up like how a gift would.
