"honey, we're inviting our new neighbor so that they'll feel welcomed. they're from abroad." chaeyoung's mother moved from the kitchen and dining room in repeat while placing down the food she had prepared.

but she couldn't care less. she's busy with her homework.

"chaeyoung! open the door our neighbors are here." called from the kitchen. groaning, she stood up from her workplace and went to open the door. to her suprise a family of four entered their house, and one particular kid who annoyed her for days.

"hello, please come in." chaeyoung spoke softly. they greeted her with smiles and hellos and entered their home.

"please, do eat with us." chaeyoung's mother offered.

"ah, you must be mrs. park?" the mother of the jeon family asked kindly, bowing to each other.

the air was suffocating for chaeyoung since she has to eat with jeongguk, the boy who annoyed her. glad enough he was behaved through the whole dinner and didn't said a word unless someone asked him. same goes for chaeyoung who keeps on looking at him with a stink eye.

"oh! they're of the same grade! then perhaps jeongguk could accompany chaeyoung home? lately work has been a bit busy and sometimes i have to work overtime, and my girl can be a little clumsy at times." chaeyoung's eyes widened and jeongguk almost choked his soup.

she cleared her throat, "mum, i can walk home by myself."

"it's dangerous to walk home alone these days, chaeyoung-ah. jeongguk told me he doesn't have friends yet, so i'm sure it's fine with him." said mrs. jeon.

"i said no! i don't want anyone walking with me and i can take care of myself. i'll take the bus if you're so worried." she stood up and left the dining table in silence while chaeyoung's dad sigh in disappointment.

breaking the ice, mrs. park spoke, "i apologize for her behavior, i'm sure she didn't mean it. please, let's continue our meal."
