seoul, incheon airport

finally boarding the airplane, my insides were twisting non-stop. ever since we were waiting on the lobby my body hasn't been in peace for a while. it's always like this when i'm anxious. i sat on the window seat, buckling up as what the flight attended told for take off.

"jisoo, can i hold your hand?" i asked her shyly, and she pulled my hand towards to her lap and tangled hers to mine.

"wow, your hand is freezing. chaeyoung you sure you're alright? i mean i can always tell jeongguk you can't–"

"what, my hand? psh! it's just that the temperature's so cold i'm freezing."

"you're literally wearing a jacket beneath a sweatshirt and you already changed the direction of the aircondition which is the reason why i took off my coat."

i smiled sheepishly, "it's not my fault i'm getting a free trip to paris just to see my bestfriend, i've been freaking out the whole night when you said my flight was moved! i spent the whole day learning french in duolingo! a-and who in the right mind wouldn't be nervous after three years—"

and without noticing, i realize i tightened my grip on jisoo's hand yet she didn't even react to it until i just noticed.

"it's okay, chaeyoung. let out all your frustrations now before the plane takes off. if you want to ditch paris and jump off the airplane this instant, i'd be happy to tell them it'accident."

i inhaled deeply, and let it all out. for the next five minutes that's what all i'm doing, until my senses are finally calmed down. jisoo still hasn't removed her hand from mine which made me feel safer and calm until the plane has taken off.

just twelve more hours, chaeyoung. you can survive without wanting to jump off this plane.
