A picture book journey of my designs and artwork that I constantly work on as I develop arthritis. If you want me to make a graphic, come on in and let me know! Beware when reading, I'm unapologetically foul-mouthed sometimes and I like cracking dad...
I love reading works from the centuries before. One of my favorite books is "Lolita" by Nabokov though "Picture of Dorian Gray" comes very close, which was actually the inspiration for this cover. One of my VIPs, Fayesther, has quite an interesting story. It's about a woman from the 40's who gains the ability to drain youth from young men. If that doesn't give you Mother Gothel or Dorian Gray vibes, you need to watch or read more.
Anyways, I've decided that to honor my very sweet and 100% badass VIPs, their mock-ups are going to be a bit different. I wanted to show my appreciation for your patience and kindness. I'm not the fastest designer on here and I'm not the best, but I appreciate you ladies and gents relying on me. So what better way to motivate you than creating a real-ish book jacket!
The Request: -a woman with gold hair and blue eyes -dark fantasy vibes -red is very important

Design Process: 5+ hours
Not gonna lie, but a majority of the hours it took to make this was spent looking for pictures. The main character is from the 40's but manages to stay beautiful because of her powers, like Mother Gothel. I searched high and low for a picture where I could have both her 'original' look and her modern century look.
Credit to FaeStock on DeviantArt for this perfect base. When Pexels or Unsplash fail me, I run to DeviantArt stock images as a last resort. Normally I have to jump through quite a bit of hoops to get a base picture to really sell the idea of the story. Not here. The base was very easy to work with!

In the previous picture, I removed her reflection and darkened her dress. Next, I'll insert a portrait of a very gorgeous and similar-looking lady from the actual 40's.
