Chapter 22: Game time

A few hours later it's time for the hero celebration game, the beacon hills cyclones are in the locker room getting their gear on and getting ready for the field. Alex sits by his locker in full lacrosse gear, he sits and waits for the rest of the team to finish and just thinks about all the things he's done and all the things that have happened to him ever since he discovered that everyone that has been recently trying to kill him was just a hired gun for someone possibly more powerful. He feels a pat on his shoulder and looks up seeing Leon in full lacrosse gear, a look of confusion on the hybrids face "What are you doing here and why are you in lacrosse gear?" Leon shrugged and crossed his arms "I think it's pretty obvious McCall, I'm on the team now and I'm going to play." Alex sighed and shook huts head "I'm not gonna ask why or even argue about it, but maybe I could use a set of extra eyes on the field." Leon smiles and nods sitting next to the hybrid "Exactly my thoughts, now if Damien is planning to attack today he could do it during the halftime performance. Now that'll give us only a few minutes to find him and kill him, but there's also the complication of what if Rose shows up today and fucks it all up in her revenge rampage like at the station." Leon said pulling out his notebook of plans he's come up work recently to kill Damien, Alex nods in agreement and Leon hands him the book to look through the plans "You came up with all of these yourself?" The hybrid asks looking at the details in each of the plans, Leon shakes his head "No actually, Talia and your sister came up with some of them." Alex nods seeing a bit of Kya's flare in the plans, he gives the book back as coach came out and started to give her speech for the game. Alex didn't really listen since the only thing on his mind was killing Damien, he wanted to stop that monster before anyone else was hurt because of him. The players get to the field and on the benches as this years hero celebration song was playing ,it was one of Alex's favorite songs ,hero by skillet, the hybrid smiled as the song reminded him of all the things his dad and his pack did to protect beacon hills and all of the other humans who do the same even without supernatural powers. As the music continued to play the hybrid caught a familiar scent and started to look around, he looked around and his eyes finally landed on who he was hoping to see at the game tonight. It was Rose, she was at the game and it made Alex incredibly happy to see her. She sees him and smiles waving at him, he waved back smiling at her. Rose sneaks away from her parents as they were distracted by the mascot and walked towards Alex, she hugged him and sat next to him. "I may still hate Damien and want to see him dead, but I'm here to support you and the team." She said kissing him softly before going back to sit with her parents. "She's really beautiful isn't she McCall, wouldn't it be a shame if she just suddenly lost her head?" Damien's voice said in the hybrids ear, Alex looked around searching for the Jersey devil but is unsuccessful at finding him. The referee blew his whistle and the game started, and soon this game was going to turn deadly. The game only just started and the hybrid was already feeling anxious about what could happen, Eric saw it from the other side of the bench and moved over to sit by his best friend "He's here isn't he, you caught his scent?" He asks looking around "No, he was just talking to me." The hybrid said clutching his lacrosse stick tight "Oh come on Alex, don't go telling on me now. We were just about to have some fun, and I've got a good game in mind for us. I call it, who's head is going to roll on this field during halftime?" The hybrid could only clench his fists as the Jersey devil mocked him, he knew just how to get under the hybrids skin and that just irritated him more. "Just tell me what you want, you're trying pretty hard to piss me off and not causing a scene here isn't really fitting with your grieving vengeance toward us. So what's the game here Damien?" Alex asked as he finally locked eyes with him, he only smirked and looked at the scoreboard. "Looks like your team is sucking without you on the field, I wonder how your pack will fair against me when you're out of commission, probably not well." Alex was confused until he felt a small prick in the back of his neck, he reached behind his neck and pulled out a needle that was laced with wolvesbane. The hybrid growled in annoyance as Eric saw the needle "Oh crap, think you can stay calm enough if they call you in so you don't kill anyone on the other team?" Eric asks seeing Alex's eyes slowly flicker, the hybrid nods and looks at his bestfriend "I'll be fine, but stay away just in case I lose control." Eric agrees and goes to the field when the coach switched him out, he took a deep breath and sighed once he felt a bit calmer. The ref blew the whistle and the game continued as normal, beacon hills high were now coming back from their losing streak. "I have an idea McCall, how about I let you pick who gets to die? Yeah I think that'll be a fun game, so here's who I'm thinking of. You have the option of killing either your best friend, your little sister, or my personal favorite your vengeance seeking girlfriend who claims that she came out Just to support her boyfriend on a day that means so much to him. You have until the end of the second half of the game to decide, or I'll choose for you. Times ticking, McCall." Damien said as he saw the effects of the wolvesbane slowly appear on the hybrid, sweat on his forehead and his visible struggle to restrain himself from lashing out as he sat on that bench. As Damien was talking to Alex Beacon hills was tied with Mystic falls and there was only 30 seconds left on the clock, the ball is constantly passed and knocked from the other teams grasp only for them to lose track of it as it rolled in front of Eric Stilinski who was slightly confused as to what was happening. Eric looked down and saw the ball in front of him and scoops it up just as the opposing team realized he had it, he starts running as the other team started charging at him and as the clock was about to hit 0 Eric launched the ball into the goal and scored winning the game. Everyone on the beacon hills team cheared and celebrated Eric's winning shot, Alex smiled as he watched his best friend be celebrated for winning the game. "Well your school won the game, but you still lose McCall and now it's time for your penance!" Damien said with anger, Alex quickly stands up and looks around trying to find him but is unsuccessful. Suddenly the lights go off and there's a loud scream near the field, everyone panics and scampered around the field trying to figure out what's going on. As the lights go back on everyone in the McCall pack gather by the bleachers to regroup, Alex looks at his pack and sees the only ones missing are Kya and Rose. "Where's Kya!" The hybrid asks knowing Rose was taken away by her parents, the others look around then at the hybrid "We have to find her before Damien does." Talia says worried about her girlfriend, everyone nods and splits up looking for her. As they looked for Kya they were unaware of just how much danger she was in the parking lot walking away from the school, her phone dead and nobody able to call her.
